This is a car board where we have sense of humour. You don't see me pissing and moaning because someone I knew was killed by a 17 year old driver and wanting to ban all 17 year olds from driving. Maybe if they taught kids at a young age to drink and drive better we would be down to someone getting killed ever 24 minutes.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2004, 16,694 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes - an average of one almost every half-hour. These deaths constituted approximately 39 percent of the 42,636 total traffic fatalities
Fun, huh ?
Also alcohol-related does not mean someone was out s--tfaced driving around.
That's why is is stated as that... stupid people naturally equate it to drunk driving when that is not what it means.
Ahh crap... I got sucked into the non-tech as well..

First of all one of my good friends, our soccer captain, got killed just a day before school started. It was by a drunk driver! It was sad, but I can't go out blaming people who drink one beer and are totally not drunk, for his death. Thats bull**** and you know it. Here you drink one beer and you are legally drunk. I don't understand how that does not stick into your head! So when I say I know my limits thats what I mean. I am sick of you people that jump down everybody's throat about that crap. I drink a beer and I drive, am I gonna drink 10 beers and drive?? NO! But you don't like to hear that cuz in your pathetic little lives, you would not have anyone to bitch at. Its crap! And yes I like to mess around saying stuff like I did in my post! So, take it or leave it I don't really give a damn.
Back to topic, if its even possible!
What about using our center console lid. Just build two cup holders inside and a cover over it. Than you can just use it when need be, and cover it up for that "stock" look!?!

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't this thread started for cupholders and not DUIs? That being the case lets get back to cupholders.
Interesting concept using the console lid and a cover for it, but what do you do when you need to open the console lid? Not sure about everyone else but i use that storage space seeing how thats the only one in a camaro really.
What about something that could swing out of the consol or other place (thinking of like the cupholders in sedans that are in the middle section of the folding armrest like the 2000-05 impala) i am sure something like that could easily be rigged up to work.

True, we have enought dash in our cars for about anything you can think, surely something as small as a cup holder and cup can't stop us.

The pass. side dash is useless. However our dashpad is covering it that its pretty hard to put a cup holder there.
For the center console, you just can't open it when the drink is there.
I always thought of trying to rig up a tiny fridge behind the pass dash. Maybe a close off storage space that has cup holders in them. That way even if you are driving you can close it up and peopel would not know that you have a drink there???
Hmmmm.. I am gonna go think more about this.

yeah pontiacs have the map pocket thing, but camaro's don't. So really in a way our dash even more useless on that side.
A fridge? now if you wanted a fridge i think you should have invested in a rolls royce limo or a semi with a kingsize sleeper, or a motor home.
As soon as college comes to an end (which is tommorow) then I am going to try and start on this, I may not have a driveable 3rd gen at the moment but at leat the dash is in tact.
indeed is interesting.

Sometimes I wish my thirdgen was transformer
.
I just thought that it would be cool to rig up a fridge door that opens slowly and is controlled by a remote.(seriously)
Think about it. Only beutifull girls ride in my car, so I they'll be just sitting there and (sexy mechanized sound)zzzzzzzzzzzzz, and the door opens with a champagne in there. Sorry, maybe a coke!
Anyways, mood lit fridge and she is in love. Ya know what am saying
I seriously think that for birds and Camaros that whole pass. side is uselsess. There can be some retractible cup holders in there. Totally.

didn't bentley's have bars in them or was it a packard or rolls-royce, anyways. I relized the DeLoreans have a cupholder you can get for them that simply attach to the center console with no drilling.

im sure these could be made fit ours. May can even find a spot to mount it on the console behind the switches, not sure how big these things are

All good, but the lack of technical content is beginning to overwhelm this thread. It seems the discussion has turned from the cupholder to the what he cup is holding. For each, his own, but we still have posting rules, and expect a level of consideration for and FROM everyone.
That said, here's a cupholder that can adapt to almost any size beverage:

I'm not sure you would want it permanently in your right seat, however.

I’m all for big girls, but that’s ridiculous. That's like 3 big girls...
As far as the really degenerated part of this thread, I’m not one for preaching but I will say this: if you’re serious you have a problem. Hopefully you’ll make an effort to fix it. If not hopefully you’ll get yourself caught up in something minor and have your *** nailed to the wall for it so you figure out that this is problem before you seriously **** up someone’s life. I know enough people that have started where you’re at and ended up really regretting where they ended up with it.
Secondly… you probably don’t feel one drink but your reaction time is slowed down. Maybe you’re not legally impared, but that slight difference might make the difference between reacting to something stupid someone else did and plowing into them.
Where to mount cup holders… have you looked at some of the later 3rd gen firebird door pockets? I’ve seen some with cupholders in them. There’s room in the center console in front of the pad but I’ve never liked that location, my ’97 WS6 has one there and it’s useless, you can’t shift well with anything tall enough to stick out of it there. On the other hand, the one that swings out from under the radio pod is pretty slick.

Yeah i ken about the door ones, but in away seems that the arm rest would block it. Besides I think someone said something about the door cupholders. 40 bucks is also a lot to pay for cupholders.

Heres a pic of the cupholder I put in my consel. Its kinda dirty right now but you get the point. I dont know how much I like how it sticks up like that now that I put it in. I used one of those cupholder adapters from pep-boys that you put in your existing cupholder and it makes it able to hold any size cup.
