The One thing we Dont Have...

The One thing we dont have... And I cant make up my mind on how to go about making one.. We all seem to not have any drink holders... Evertime i go somewhere, i end up setting my drink on the passenger seat... which rolls around when taking corners... I bought a cup hold thing at wal mart the sits between the seat and console.. But its Ugly as sin.. so that unded up in the Car/truck parts box..

Check the Body and Interior board for custom made cup holders. Lots of people have done it. You'll probably have to cut up your console though.

Or you can find the ones that mount on the doors. Not sure where to find them though, maybe Hawks.

Later Pontiacs had them in the doors…

Or just get a wife, sit her in the passenger seat and have her hold it…

i bought a cup holder that was circular and made to "enlarge" an already present factory cup holder, i then drilled a 3" hole in the center console with a hole saw and inserted in the cup holder right behind the window switches. you could also swap to a 4th gen console like i did this year and have 4 cup holders then.

Just a note... *the center cupholder in a 4thgen or fabbed in a 3rdgen console it worthless if you own a 5sp. 12oz cans are about the only thing that fit w/o being obtrusive.

*based on having shaved the stock shifter a few inches depending on consiole and vehicle.

And don’t forget to install a little solid state modual

Hawks Third Gen Parts-82-02 Camaro and Firebird Parts - Firebird NEW GM 82-92 Door Cupholders (Black ONLY AVAILABLE)

Stock third gen cup holders. Unfortunatly only come in black from Hawk's but could be painted. These don't take well to high speed cornering though if you have a tall drink in them.

wal mart has a cup holder that wedges between the seat and the console. your passenger might complain about it though... depending on how fat they are. it also has holes in it to bolt it to the console. worked so good i got one for my wifes miata too.

until you get your custom console done, or door cup holders, Do what I do. I use one that works pretty good, its the universal type that are meant to go on the door, and slide between the sill and the glass, or in the glove box door, or whatever, its just a plastic round thing, with a J hook at the top. I can hang it on the console and stick the back of it in the ashtray, it hangs down on the passenger side along the console. It doesn't stay put without a drink, but with a soda or something, its pretty stable. I think I paid like 5 bucks or something for 2 at the local parts store.

well, pretty much any drink holders (bought OR poorly fabbed) make any interior look like shi*, so who cares either way. take the thing and stick it in the glovebox when a hottie walks over.

Check before you cut. A '92 RS I'm parting out has a sensor (my guess for the air bag) iapprox. behind where the window switches are.

This is what I did for my son's car. They open quick and easy, adjsutable to fit virtually any cup/cans and etc.

I'll sell these $12 shipped.

Problem solved....

Go to your local Wally World, check the automotive section for the "wedge" cup holder.

Wedges between the passenger seat and the console. Holds two drinks and a center cut for loose change. Doesn't interfere with the passenger and can be removed in less than a heartbeat. No cutting or fabrication needed.

Only cost $5.00.

Jim.

Thats been suggested already, and he said thats not what he is looking for.

I kind of like the idea behind 2kflhr cupholders. They fold up out of the way.

Rock on bro'. I tend to go for the simplicity of the idea and functionality. Problem solved and can be removed. Sorry I missed the previous post. Still getting used to this new format since it was sold.

I drink 20oz bottles and stuff them between my right hip and the center console stays put. Might be a problem in a crash but so would crashing. Mike

I was thinking the same thing this evening as I was driving my 5 speed home from 7/11 with a Big Gulp and a Slurpee. Needless to say, the Slurpee ended up sideways in the passenger seat!

a 98 and up camaro center console would work. there's a cup holder that swings out from the console. it "sits" on the passenger side so there's nothing to get in the way.

Try cup holders from a later f-body

I'm not sure on the exact year but i think 90-92 firebirds had cupholder/map pockets that went on the bottom of the door. You could get a set of those and put them on your doors.
