Question on converting to Sanden A/C comp
Has anyone every converted over to a smaller Sanden A/C compressor on there car. If so what kind of parts did you need or use? How did you mount it? What kind of lines did you use? I also might try to convert Serp belt at same time. Any pictures parts or good ideas on how to do this would help.

its just an old school super ram.
the compressor and condensor are from a 95 s10 and a 4th gen fan set up. blows cold even in rush hour traffic in 100* florida heat with no tinted windows. also no more of the blowing cold while moving and then warmer when stopped. that all the converted stock stuff seems to do. atleast the ones I've seen.

so the compressor is pretty much "bolt in" (minus the bracket mounting/fabricating)?
will the stock thirdgen lines fit the S10 compressor? Or did you use more parts (condenser, etc) from the S10?
I'm thinking about doing something similar since I have no AC right now...

Re: Question on converting to Sanden A/C comp
nah, not much of any of it was bolt in. if you used the 3gen condenser it would make it easier. the block that bolts to the back of the compressor is the same but the lines coming off from it need to be tweaked to fit. I did a lot of hand bending of lines to make them all fit. matter of fact the pic I posted was a quick one from the mock up, just to e mail a buddy and show him. just before I mounted everything up for the final time. I did one last check on how the s10 lines went and noticed the inlet and outlet are backwards compared to the stock one. so I had to flip the compressor over, which made for even more tweaking of the lines and cutting the black plastic piece that goes between the lines to hold them together. but they did fit. the low press switch is in the back of the compressor on the s10 and I had to put a block off on it (had one off a rebuilt 3rd gen compress i was given that ended up being bad, which led to the s10 one being tired) but the high switch plugged right into the s10 one.
the condenser was the hard part, since the high side line from it to where the orifice tube goes has a different size fitting. which I could have just had made up but was in the "trying ****" mood. if i failed to kinked a line while bending, i would have just taking the stock line and had the right end up on it. but instead I took the tube off the s10 which was bent in a funny Z looking way. straighened and hand bent it to copy the stock line as much as I could. bent the lines off the condenser to clear the rad because they come off more towards the bottom and the stock one comes off more towards the top. then hooked up the one I hand bent from the s10.
in other words it all kinda a pain in the *** and unless you just happen to have a totaled s10 sitting next to it, with known good ac. more time than money and work at it for a few nights. it seems to have ended up working well.
i can go take some better pics if anyone wants to see what it ended up like.

I think I would like to see some final pics... I'm thinking about just going to the boneyard and finding a select GM vehicle and using that....

i will get you some pics tomorrow durning the day.
i kinda enjoyed making it work, plus i've done the 134 converson and i just don't think the stock condensor is up to it. when i started i was planing to make just the newer 134 style condensor work but after i found out the compressor was bad, i made that work too.
just measure up the room you have, take something with you to check the sizes of the conectors. like maybe carry your old hose with you, just to check fitting are the same. and all the lines seems to bend pretty easy without kinking. so you can make a lot fit. just know this isn't the direct bolt in most guys want

Thats fine, I enjoy a challenge... I know its not direct, but I'll make it work, so long as its just different line fittings and such, It'll get tricky if I have to weld and create "essential" parts from scratch. But if i have a donor vehicle, I can make it work...
Re: Question on converting to Sanden A/C comp
well thats good... here's some pics

the mounting tabs on the compressor were threaded, so i ran a bolt in from both sides and tightened them up. didn't want to drill out the threads. but could have.

the red circle is a mounting brace i made from something i had taken off the car at some point and was still laying around. it goes to the front of the intake where the oem brace was.

hand bend high side line.

the back tweaked block.

and how the lines ended up hooking up to the condensor. its not pretty but the car has had a very very hard life over the 14ish years i've owned it and beat the ever living **** out of it lol.

the ac works pretty good so far. i put a red ford orfic tube in it because a buddy that does ac work said to. but i think i should have used a blue or even the stock white one. it still blows 40* on a hot *** florida day at idle. but i'd like about 35 out of it because the windows arn't tinted.
