Battery box

Thought I'd post a picture of the battery box I made over the winter. The one I bought from summit didnt fit in the hole so I decided to break out the welder and some scrap and build one. I'm happy with the result... the disconnect switch lines up between the bulbs in the tail light so I'll get a spare tail light for the track that I'll drill a hole through for the required "push off handle".

I did a little work in the front while I was at it... boxing in the front corners was easy and I think it looks really good.

Not bad… here is the one built for my brother’s car:

This one ended up a lot smaller then normal since he decided to run a lawnmower battery instead of a real car battery.

Here it is mounted in the trunk and you can see what he did with the power switch, which I think is slick, it’s mounted right behind the plate with a hole drilled all the way through one of the mounting holes. On the street he just unscrews the thing and there are no extra holes that shouldn’t be there, at the track he fishes the “push off” button/rod through the hole and threads it into the piece on the end of the switch lever:
