ford 8.8 and four link set up?

I found a nice 8.8 ford rear that came out of a 95 mustang and I'm thinking about using it but insted of fabbing the torque arm can I use a four link set up insted without changing any thing else ?

I don't have any advice for adapting that axle, but am wondering why anyone would select that design for conversion. It's not a 9-inch. A 8½" ten-bolt is likely a superior axle, and you'd find a lot more gear choices for it.

I beg the differ. You can make a 8.8 really strong. Plus there are allot of options for it.

Yeah, the 8.8 is basically a 12 bolt chevy in ford clothing. Same bearing kit, as a matter of fact.

Just throwing this out there, but I have seen this kit or a fab where you solidly tie the lower control arm to the differential housing, and use the factory lower link mounts. Along with the panhard bar, it's a 3 link system, that doesn't require a torque arm or chassis fabrication.

If you fuse the LCA point on the rear then your making a sort of Ladder bars

The arms would need severe strengthening as well as the chassis reinforced at the pivot points

4 link is superior

obviously, 4 link is much more adjustable. It also requires much more fabrication.

I will agree that the factory arms are somewhat weak. However as a point of reference, in the normal f-body suspension, these two arms are the only load bearing links on the car for forward motion.

what I recommended is in fact a type of ladder bar, but it gets you down the road for the least cost and fabrication.

You still have to strengthen the chassis mounting points a good bit
