Re: Fuel Cell
i mounted my fuel cell above the rear end with a small door cut in the top to fill it on my last autocross car. the only real problem i had with it was trying to fill it. it was hard to hold the gas can that far from you to fill it especially with a 5 gallon can. so i moved mine to the rear and switched to a lexan window with a bulkhead and a hinged rear deck lid. have a few pics of my cardboard template and one of what the finished product looks like
Re: Fuel Cell
Move your battery a little to the right and fab up some quick mounts for a jegs aluminum 5 gallon. Nice and easy. drill some holes in the t top area, get some AN fittings in there and you are good to go.

Re: Fuel Cell
Mathius, that tank is a work of art! Personally my favorite fuel idea, is to relocate the battery to the trunk, do a little trimming and put a three to five gallon tank where the battery used to be. simplifies a whole bunch of wiring, routing, and makes everything less expensive.

Re: Fuel Cell
I cant remember at this moment but there is a company that makes a FUEL CELL KIT for the 93-97 camaro's. In which I heard with minor modifications (in brackets IIRC) you can have a fuel cell in the STOCK location on OUR f-bodies

Re: Fuel Cell
your reffering to nasty fuel sysytems, I have one in my car, no mods really needed if you can get a LT1 sender to work..mines a race car so I just made my own sender since I needed a -8 return (the tank came with a -12 feed and a -6 return next to the filler neck.

Re: Fuel Cell
if you need a nice fuel sender, check out the stainless wema senders, they can be had in most length and most ohmage range that you need. I have those in most of my cars, they are so much nicer than a float on an arm:
This is the sender, in a corvette tamk with custom filler and a completely custom fuel cell

Another neat idea may be to weld a sump to the existing tank, again not f bodies but the idea is the same (I know the sump is on backwards, would be better the othe way around but the tank would be impossible to install without taking the body off)

Re: Fuel Cell
Mine has 2 1/2npt outlets in the rear of the sump, a 1/4" and a 3/8" NPT fittings by the filler neck, and a tube style sender that works with the stock fuel guage. Ant they tanks is shaped differently, its not flat on the top for some reason, it has a concave angle in the front? and a recess in the bottom to allow for more clearance for the axle.

Re: Fuel Cell
Thanks for reminding me guys, and Im sure once I have the time and money to do this (and the reason to have it more importantly), I will know what to do about a sender, thanks for the heads up though...always a good thing.

Re: Fuel Cell
Iv been searching, Fuel Cell/ Sumping my factory tank. I just went to Nasty Perormances web site..so the 93-97 F-body tank will fit in a third gen? They have one for $675 then I need the GM Filler neck I guess. Then just get a good pump/reg and be done. Does this sound like a good plan. For the guys that have it, what do you think of it?

Re: Fuel Cell
you need the filler neck, rubber hose and gas cap for a 4th gen car.
as for the fitment in a 3rd gen, its meh. the my tanks straps are too short, i have to make new ones. My exhaust and heat shields did not work with it. Exhaust routing is tight too. I have a upper panhard relocation kit and my 4" tubing is really tight between the tank and the bar. I moved the tank over to the driverside a bit so that i can get he exhaust higher, should be fine. It has been a bit of a headache, i would say that unless you really need it, dont bother. The only reason i bought mine is because i found it second hand, brand new never used a got a good deal on it.

Re: Fuel Cell
Yeah its a little expensive, The exhuast Im not worryied about not going over the rear end, I think for the price Ill just buy a new factory tank and sump it. Im spending all this money and havent touched the fuel delivery part. I hate having to drop the tank to change the pump anyway..and I want to run all new braded lines to..
