custom exhust idea need help

custom exhust idea need help

ok when i bought my car an 89 rs the exhaust stoped right after the cat converter i have an idea for the new exhaust and im just wondering what people would think i seen that cherry bomb has turn out glsspacks that i beleve are 36 inches long the bolt straight to the headers but i want to moddify them to come out underneth the doors like on some older muscle cars is this possible and ifso how would u go about doing this. hear is a pic of what they are any input would be helpful

You haven't got enough room between the frame and the transmission.

well you cant bolt them to the headers on our cars because the way the header flage exits, it point to the ground, you can use long tube but you can run into problems going over speed bumps and other things , if you welded them to the exhust pipe it would work but from experance its loud in the car exiting anywhere near the doors, let alone under the car...i got a freind with a pinto (yes i siad a pinto, but its NOT NEAR STOCK its got a V8) anyway his exits out on each side behind the door and its loud, all he has is glasspacks, i love the sound of a glasspack, but its got to exit in the back lol

lol i understand about the exit i guess what i really wanna do is cut that part tat bolts to the headers off i love glass packs to i had one on my blazer with a v8 swap and ive always loved the loudness so it dosent really bother me i just wanna do something uniqe that i havent seen b4 or is it possible to remove the cat and run dual like that im jw because the o2 sensor is in the cat

There's no O2 sensor on the cat.

manifold/header left side

throw the cat to the recyle center and collect some $$ to put toward the exhaust

oh yea seen on your info your not sure on your trans and axle if you got an RS and its an auto you got a 700r4....manual is a 5 speed

if its still stock you more than likely got 2.73 gears in the rear.....atleast it will make your info more complete
