Using a stock TPI filter box & a sealed carb hat, always works good too. Gets cool outside air, plus stays out of the way pretty well. Not near as cheap (inexpensive) as yours though.
Where are those 2 intakes run to, to get air from?

Open element filter = hot underhood airOriginally Posted by hairysox33
would you say this works better? or an open element filter? His setup = cooler outside air
What do you think = more HP? Hot underhood air, or cooler oxygen rich air?

Good work. Is that a stock dual air cleaner? Any way of getting rid of the rain water, or is the slope good by itself?
I don't really drive it in the rain cuz I don't have any wipers but I have got cought a couple of times in it and didn't have any problems

what ever works the best and cost less = good.
Personally I would leave the 4 lights in and run those ducts down here the factory fog lights would have went on a iroc or z.
Just for a little cleaner look.

i was thinking of doing that but it would be a pain to do. it was easyer just to take those head lights out didnt really need them anyways i still got the head lights and brackets so i can put it back together later on down the road if need be

I know this is an old post, but what did you make the duct out of? I got a hold of 2 ducts from 350 chev trucks. I had to cut to fit, but It looks good. I found a duel snorkle air cleaner w/ 305 HO sticker on it. I used the scoop on the driver side, and put the duct on the passenger side to the round hole by the headlight.
its dryer tubes for a house i got everthing i used at lowes haha they got a lot of fittings and stuff there i got a rubber tube there that i put were the head lights went and it extends to the other side of the core suport then the dryer tube hooked up to it i put a screen in side of it to keep things from geting in to it only bad thing about useing dryer tube is that it dents very easy and rips easy but ive been using the same tube for a long time now but when it gets riped or dented its cheep enough that i can just go buy more for next to nothing

I've done this exact same thing with my car, except I don't have two "pipes", only one going from the driver's side headlight.
I've noticed no difference in performance, I have a headlight missing, and I don't open my hood in front of anyone because it looks very ghetto. I'll probably switch everything back soon.
It cost maybe ten bucks to get everything from home depot.

My l03 is tight on the passenger side like yours. I am making an aircleaner using a 305 pan, and a 350 snorkle. I am gonna duct it to the hole behind the headlights. I might get a k&n filter and see if I get any better performance.
nice idea man! im not too big of a fan of the tubing you used...but for 20 bux its a neat idea and im sure it works great! what better/inexpensive way of getting nice cool air to your powerplant? Besides removing the hood? haha

The tubing I am using is the 350 tube. It is long enough to reach the hole by the headlights. I just brazed the snorkle on a couple of days ago. I noticed that there were waves (dents) in the snorkle that show up when using black paint. The snorkle I transplanted was orange! Old stuff!
That looks really ghetto using dryer ducts on your car. I can't believe everyone is saying it looks good! Also, don't you think having all of your headlights is important? Also, as you said, that's even the cheap type of dryer duct that tears easily. You could have used the flexible aluminum type instead of the foil/paper style for durability if you don't care about the appearance.

Spectre performance makes modular pieces so you can fabricate your own cold air setup. Summit racing sells them - they're like $10-$12 for each piece. it looks really nice if you weld them together instead of using the clamps. here's a CAI i did for my second gen with Spectre's stuff.

I like the idea. I guess sometimes performance, even if its small is more important than the looks of it.
There was a company that made a ram air setup which located ducts to the headlight area. The intake was fully covered by a filter hat that left 1/2" between the filter and hat on all sides so air could come in at every point. I think it was something like $100-$150. I can't seem to recall or right now find the company that did this? Maybe someone will chime in.
Edit: I believe it may have been Spectre...
Nice wheels, every time I see those they make me want to change my mind about the Centerline Matrix's I want. It is a hard decision.
-Take care

Maybe the dryer ducts are a bit getto looking, but it looks like an effective system. You can but duct at autozone type stores that are corrigated black, and would improve the appearance if that's your wish.

I think home depot is the best place to buy something like this. They sell various lengths of dryer ducting ranging from around 2 inches up to 4 or 5 I believe.
And they had this cute little garden filter that I used that happened to be the perfect size to fit in the dryer ducting right behind the driver's side high beam, to keep unwanted large debris out.
