automatic license plate flipdown

Does anyone have the plans specs or hardware to
automatically control the position of the rear tag from
the drivers position?

Wow that would be cool but you better check to see if its legal in the state you live in. I personally wonder why you would need that unless you plan on doing domethng illegal. LOL!

Re: automatic license plate flipdown

I haven't seen it for the rear plate (why?) I have, however, seen the front license plates that retract into the bumper...

Re: automatic license plate flipdown

I saw this trick on America's Most Wanted
I was wondering how someone could be so smart to
design and install this setup yet be so stupid as to be a criminal
-he actually used it to try to escape as he committed the crime

I think it is a really sharp gadget to have in case you accidentally
run a yellow light you know there are cameras out there
-typically the plastic tag covers are illegal although I see alot of them
besides they are so obvious-this topic gadget it seems to me would be
completely concealed and undetectable even in a police search
unless of course they already know you have it

The other trick which is less obvious than the plastic tag cover is to
submerge your tag in clear wood sealer which is alot tougher than poly
and wont crack with cold weather-this will add the sheen which causes
the glare to deflect the cameras photo of your tag number

Re: automatic license plate flipdown

well, we don't have those cameras here (yet). Something I always thought would be "cool" is to put the Camaro license plate mount on my Trans Am and have a motor to actuate the tag going up and down...

I have one of those, that I put on my GTA for awhile.

But because of the thickness of the pivot, it sets that part of the plate out further than the depth of the recess, then it looks "broken". So I took it off.

hhmm, I'll inspect a Camaro when I get to the junkyard again, I don't know if I'll do this mod, I just thought it'll be cool since I like little real-life James Bond gadgets. I'm still thinking of ways to get my rocket launchers on the popup headlights...

Re: automatic license plate flipdown

My bud has something similar on his S10 but instead of flipping his plate up and down, it extends a dummy expired plate down over his real plate when he hits a switch on the console. The switch lights up bright so he doesn't forget about it. It is way less obvious to someone behind him. His plate is frenched into the tailgate and it goes straight up and down. get you one here:
