Re: door panel speakers?
Problem with door mounted speakers, is they can't be very deep, because of the window. Set the speaker too deep & you won't be able to roll the window down.
The front kick panel is a popular location to put them.

Re: door panel speakers?
I think the problem is that the motor for the window is in that bottom corner, alot of people make custom door panels that come out more for the door speakers. I know on the new power doors im installing on my 74 K5 blazer the motor for the window is right in that front corner so now i need to move my 6.5s that I had in the old manual doors.

Re: door panel speakers?
no, i don't think its very hard to remove the door panel though. Ive noticed most people build basically a "spacer" so the speak doesn't sit so far in the door or at all, seeing this would lead me to believe that simply cutting a hole wont due the trick.

Re: door panel speakers?
Damn is it hard to do that?? Would you keep the stock speakers in the dash as extra speakers? That looks awesome!

Re: door panel speakers?
the door panel's not very rigid, so you'll need to beef them up a bit if you dont want all your mids/bass to be absorbed due to vibration. best thing to do would be to make enclosures of sorts and bolt them to the door sheet metal. i did a 3-way setup (semi-successfully) in my last car with the tweeter and mid in the kicks and the midbass in the doors. If I do it again, I'd definitely just stick to a 2-way setup in the kicks. Best layout for distance and not a lot of work to get the setup to look well.
