Re: Sequential taillights

Yes, I should be making another batch soon for the Texas Statewide meet in Georgetown.
Military Clone, if you'd like one, you can pick it up at the meet (no shipping charge). Otherwise I should have some available hopefully by the end of the month.

This will be the LAST and FINAL batch, no more will be made. So if you want one, get one.

Toxic, careful, do NOT talk about St**en here, you don't want to get banned too.

Btw Toxic, I hope you meant "bad-a$$", because the censored text "bad ***" sounds like they're not very good.

I am dying to know the answer to that one too. People tend to get pissed off when you are straightforward and blunt. I appreciated that about him. Wonder how long he's banned for... I am a member of a few other boards and the longest ban I have ever heard of was 6 months. No one ever talks about the length of a ban on this site. Surely it's not lifetime! Everyone makes mistakes! (Hell, I just made one several minutes ago!)

Sorry, but we don't have a habit of discussing, or debating, banned members or staff actions. Some are going to disagree while others will agree. This was not one persons sole decision as multiple staff (some of which are also Senior members) were involved with this decision. It also wasn't simply based off of one, or even three, incidents. Therefore, giving you a simple answer and example does not fully represent the situation.

I'll add that Stephen was given the future option to return if he decides to he can participate within our guidelines as others are expected to follow. So the length of ban is partly up to Stephen.

We have asked that it not be discussed here because, of course, it's simply going to lead to debating as well as likely less than friendly comments toward both parties involved (us and Stephen). Personally, I'm not proud of the outcome that occurred but it was not completely within our control. The decision was not made overnight or due to simply one incident.

Now, let's please stick to the original topic.

Thanks!

Re: Sequential taillights

Now that the moderators have cleared up the circumstances of Stephen's departure (thanks, JT), we can move on and focus on the topic.

TPI TERR, you shouldn't need to buy any "kits", you know how this country loves to scam the consumers with those.
Instead, get a can of Testor's Candy Apple Translucent Red (usually available at Hobby Lobby, WalMart) for $5 and you will be set. The paint MATCHES the current color and hue of the Camaro tail lights. It is amazing and it makes us Camaro-owners happy.

I believe my tail lights came out alright, see below.

Re: Sequential taillights

Ooh yeah I wasn't clear on this but I've used the testor paint for my rear turn signals I wanted to do the white part but it might be an issue with fix it tickets..
I meant to say ebay used to sell a sequential light harness kit. I'm not too sure if they still do . Also iirc I would come across exterior mirror glasses for our cars with the turn signals.

Re: Sequential taillights

Depending on the state inspection requirements, you might or might not need clear backup lights. In Texas, for example, a vehicle does not need any. It is not considered a required safety feature, more of a convenience feature.
You'll need to find out what the law says about that in California. If you don't need backup lamps, you can go ahead and spray the clear section with the same Candy Apple Translucent Red and have 3 bulbs per side. I want to see the results first!

You can spray just the section that you want to turn red and that works well.

I went ahead and sprayed ALL red sections to ensure a completely uniform look but then again, it's me, we're talking about.

Or, you could take it a Step Further like I did with my old 88 Daily Driver.

I Painted the Amber part Red, then Wired it to come on with the Tail Lights and still flash when signalling.

Looking good!

How many bulbs per side are you flashing? 2 or 3?
Did you reroute the white wire on the multifunction/hazard switch under the steering column?

I want these for my 89 gta but I really don't want to take my tails apart. Anybody sell these as a kit already installed in the tails so I don't have to mess with any wires?

You can put me on the list also Lou. I sent Stephen a PM after seeing his thread before he was banned but he never responded. Got an estimated price on them? Although I think I would pay just about anything as long as it works the way its supposed to.

Re: Sequential taillights

I have about 4 prototypes I've made.
When one design fails I go back to the design board.
It all seems to work great on the test bench. Different story when it comes to installing on the car.
I'm close to getting mines right. I'm trying to get it as compact as possible. Shoot I have even made a teeny sequential/delay unit that's incorporated into the bulb base as a 10 led unit. It's just a basic time delay circuit that's adjustable. Also it's as watertight as the bulb because it uses the bulb base, so gets sealed in the light housing. I'm kinda proud of it. I made it from scratch. It's still in prototype stage though.
When I get the STS circuit right I will offer them up.
I have no time to work on it right now though. I have several project ideas going on, just not enough time at the moment.

Why of course they will be available outside of Texas.
We shipped them all over the world in the past. There are some units in Australia, some in Europe and the numbers for US and Canada are in triple digits (lost count a long time ago).

The price is the same as before, no change here: $56 shipped anywhere in the US.

Why yes.

Stephen's white GTA has the ORIGINAL PROTOTYPE that I built for him in 2006 - so 5 years and ticking, without a glitch.
YouTube videos here: Left turn signal with STS and Right turn signal with STS.

Enjoy.

Listen kiddo, what's your angle?
You keep seeking all STS threads, posting slander.
I thought that you really owned a failed STS unit and I generously offered to take a look at it and repair it. I don't like the thougt of a bad unit any more than you do. Yet you ignored my offer.

So why do you keep posting all over the boards like that? That's just not right.

Just for clarification, every unit is thoroughly tested before it goes out the door. I fully realize that these must serve for years and wouldn't want a disappointed customer.
And I also take pride in my work, I wouldn't feel right if my product failed. The units are designed not to fail and to serve long after we all are gone. No moving parts, nothing to wear out.

Technically, the only way to kill a unit is by a short in a bulb or by heavy corrosion if water pools up in the casing. I have never had a bad unit that would fail on its own. (knock on wood )

FWIW: electronic components are not affected by gravity or vibration, which makes me confident when I say that the STS units would have no problem flying up to the International Space Station on a shuttle (several G's), serving on the space station (zero G), re-entering the atmosphere (turbulence) and serving well here on Earth afterwards.

I hope that clears it up.

I here ya. A failed product is a failed inventor, and that's the last thing that I would want to happen when you have so much time and effort into a project.

Putting you on my list.

Estimates got complicated by FedEx who screwed up the shipping on the parts so they're not here yet. So my original expectation to have a few units next week will be pushed several days back.

So my new estimate is: first week of April.

Re: Sequential taillights

Good news, I have a few units available and am in the process of making more (it's a slow process so I make only about a couple per day if I have time after work so please bear with me).

I am setting up a webpage with instructions, videos and payment options and it will be hopefully up within 24 hours.

Thanks man, a video would be great of install, and how it looks when its done. I'm still a bit confused if its full leds or just stock light bulbs, and other things.

im still highly interested.

I was really wanting the digi one but $300 + shipping was steep for me :\

YES! Definitely.

I have shipped these in the past all over the country, all over the continent, as a matter of fact I shipped them all over the world (Europe, Australia etc).

The STS unit sequences any incadescent or LED bulbs that you might be using on your vehicle. Also, the unit is not F-body specific, it is used on dozens of different vehicles.
It is merely a sequencing device that has wide variety of uses. I have actually heard of it being used on multi-bulb front turn signals which is even cooler, I think.

So stock bulbs or LEDs, it does not matter, it will work for both.

Re: Sequential taillights

The webpage is up. It has some basic info, videos, payment options and of course instructions.
STS units
If you think I am missing some information on the page, please let me know.
Also, if there is any wrong information up there, please let me know as well. Thank you.

I have a list of interested parties so if I don't hear from you within a week or so, expect a PM or email in which I will remind you that I am already building the units.

I hope you guys like 'em! I am excited, another batch coming out!

Lou
