LS1 Coil Mounting Brackets for LT1 Swap/LTCC Ignition

Hey guys. I am excited about swapping an LT1 into my 86 Z28.

In case anyone is interested, I am making some coil mounting brackets for my LS1 coils, since I am doing the LTCC ignition conversion, which is a very worthwhile upgrade to just running the optispark on the LT1.

These pics are in my swap thread (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...st-ever-v.html), but I figured I'd post them here, too.

The brackets will have two vertical uprights that will bolt to the Ansen flat black valve covers' mounting bolt locations, which are the perimeter bolt conversion valve covers.

the brackets will run parallel to the valve covers (I think that looks best).

I'll post pics of the rough metal template and the final products. I'd have the "rough" metal template by now, but the fab shop's computer crashed yesterday.

Yes, I am "cheating" and using a CNC Fab shop here in Casper, but I did the drawing and made the template for them to work with at the shop. It took about two hours.

The final pieces will be 1/4" aluminum. I may polish them, too, which would look nice against flat black valve covers and fuel rail covers.

Yeah, I thought 5/16" aluminum at first, but I saw the 1/4" aluminum at the shop and saw that it would be plenty sturdy.

I am going to mount horizontal wire looms to the brackets and run the wires to the back of the engine. I will make a bracket from aluminum to run alongside the other side of the valve cover then will mount vertical looms to that, to organize the wires above the headers. Presto!! It'll look clean and perfect!

Not a 3D drawing, but good enough I suppose.
