Re: cup holder ideas
There was a member on here recently i saw who took the stock console and molded everything out of fiberglass. He molded a cup holder,a change holder, and a cell phone holder out of it. If i were you id just pick up a 4th gen console or one out of a late 90's blazer. I think for the work and effort, that would be much easier.

Re: cup holder ideas
Classic Industries sells a console lid that has a cup holder built into it. I don't know how much it affects the amount of space inside the compartment. Also, if you look at their website, the ticker at the top of the page shows a redish-orange 3rd gen interior, and it looks like a cupholder is placed where some old 3rd gens had a clock, just aft of the window switches. If I was going to do it, I think that would be the place.

Re: cup holder ideas
i have done this in my car. all though i dont have power windows all you would have to do is relocate the switches and cut a hole that will fit a cup holder.

Re: cup holder ideas
Imiddin, this will work easily with a 'hole saw' attachment for a drill. Here is a photo of what I am talking about: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053
Figure out the diameter you want and buy the appropriate size hole saw. Take off the top portion of the console and drill straight down. It's very thin plastic so be careful. Or, if you have the cupholder insert already, do some tracing and cut it out with some sharp x-acto knife blades. I just did this last week on the space behind my window/hatch/window switch plate with a hole saw to install a console clock.

Re: cup holder ideas
you can always do what i plan on doing, move the radio and use the hole to house a cupholder from a 2000's VW jetta. they have slide out cup holders that have a storage compartment under them and they fit in the 1.5 DIN headunit hole perfectly....
