Fiberglass Berlinetta radio pod

I've been toying with the idea of ripping out the stock Berlinetta radio and fabricating a fiberglass dash panel for an aftermarket head unit.

What's are your thoughts?

Re: Fiberglass Berlinetta radio pod

I though about making a custom console unit for a double din screen unit to fit my radio console. Never did though. I guess the price of the radio steered me away.

Check this thread. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/car-...head-unit.html

People usually buy one of these.

Then they flip it upside down and mount it where the swivel part was.

Re: Fiberglass Berlinetta radio pod

I love my pod radio but I need a modern head unit. I want to do a "stealth" install and keep the pod for nostalgia. Where would be a good place to put the head unit?

I'm looking to do the same thing, keep the pod for decor and hide a single din unit somewhere in the car that I can control with a remote...Anyone have any ideas for a good mounting location? I don't want to tear up the dash.

I would put in a digital media receiver (mechanicless receiver). Like these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i...r-stereos.html
Then I would put it in the storage compartment on the driver's side in the truck and use the remote.

Here's an idea. 'Glass up a pod to hold a tablet of some sort. Utilize the bluetooth output of the tablet with a bluetooth adapter that can feed your amp.
