functional z28 ram air hood?

So i got a '90 camaro rs but after looking at more and more pics i came to the conclussion my hood wasnt stock, come to find out its off of a '82-'83 Z28. it has the 2 sunk in sections like a ram air hood and has plates over both sunk in spots but on the back side its not open. i was thinking of takin the covers off and cutting some holes out but leaving the bolt mounts there. Then id somehow put some thin weather stripping around the plates so on days i feel it may rain i could pop em in and not worry about water. the only thing is it might look a lil tacky when they're off and the mounts protruding into the openings. Has anyone ever seen this done or done it?

I cut mine out a lomg time ago, it's the factory fiberglass hood but on my '91 Camaro. Helped a little bit, with a tall open element, 14x5, however trade off is hot air from the engine. Once I get the car on the road again I'll enclose the open element to isolate it from the engine bay

Go to my cardomain site, pics are there somewhere.

Yeah was thinking of enclosing it that way, however I may do something different in the long run, and redo the entire hood. Only reason my old hood project turned bad was it was my first project ever lol my sub woofer box was my second and that turned out excellent.
