ABS Headliner!!
I bought an extra one of these headliners from a buddy fairly cheap. A guy on ebay sells them. Was wondering if anyone has any good or bad info on these? Not going to be able to install for a week or two, so if anyone has one and can give me some pointers.....would appreciate very much!!

Re: ABS Headliner!!
It is plastic. Seems to be very durable. The guy that sold it to me had one installed in his 87 Iroc z and looked pretty good. Some places looked like it needed some work to make it fit a little better, but overall looked good. As soon as I get this installed I'll take some before and after pics.

Re: ABS Headliner!!
I have one its not installed yet since the interiors out but it fits like crap and the sun visor holes are way off also looks like there is some trimming to do. When i get around to installing it i think its going to be a pain in the ass and im going to need a lot of double sided tape in the end i sense it will look like shit... i thought ABS would be a upgrade over the rotting and falling apart head liner.

Re: ABS Headliner!!
Ok, I installed headliner today. First off....it definately doesn't look factory. There are alot of places that are bowed (can't do much for that). Is it worth $233....Hell no!!.....is it worth $75 (what I paid for it...yes). It is better than my old one. I forgot to take a pic of the old still in the car, but did take a pic of it afterwards.

Re: ABS Headliner!!
I think that actually looks descent. Could you possibly get a few more shots of it, especially with the t-tops out looking down on it to show the gaps around the t-tops. And also more of the back area, it's hard to tell from the one shot but it looks a little weird there as if it's bent to far down or something.
That is my biggest complaint about the new headliners that are covered with fabric that you can get from Hawks and 1a auto. There is a huge gap around the t-tops. Hawks says they are made this way so that if water leaks in it will drip into the plastic area and run off to the sides, but I think it looks like complete **** with the ttops out.
Been contemplating trying to make my own starting off with cardboard or something molded to the shape I want, but if this one fit better I might would buy one.
On the note of the price though, that guy is seriously overcharging for shipping. 45 dollars for shipping? I highly doubt it costs anywhere near that to ship.
EDIT:
One last thing, is your dome light installed backwards, or did I install mine backwards? lol. I used to have a center overhead console and took it out cause it was very annoying and in the way and replaced it with a dome light. But I installed mine the other way around.

Re: ABS Headliner!!
Yeah, I can take more pics. Like I said, lots of bowes in it. The rear of the headliner by the t-tops has big gaps (tried to fill in with 1 inch weather stripping) and looks like crap!! Everywhere else around the t-tops don't look too bad...lol. They definately could have made this thing fit a lot BETTER!!! Not sure on the dome light...I might have put it on backwards?? Can't remember how it was...lol.

Re: ABS Headliner!!
Searched the web, and could only find this pic with my style dome light. Maybe someone will chime in and let us know the correct position?

Re: ABS Headliner!!
Thanks, even the gap in the back has less gap than mine.
Here is one pic of the gap in mine (took this pic showing the fabric coming off so that because it's actually getting replaced by the manufacturer due to the fabric coming off). The gap is at least that large all the way around the t-top frame.

I dunno, I might just still try to fab one myself first before spending another 200 on a plastic one that I might not like the fit of any better.
Thanks

Not bad, depending on the level of detail you're looking for... I wouldn't spend the full price on it for sure, id rather re-upholstered my old one... I will have 2 do m door panels, so makes sense to

Re: ABS Headliner!!
I got the same one, fit about the same way, bowed in a lot of places and big gaps around the T-Tops. I paid just under 200 IIRC, I was really disappointed with it for the price, but the last one is toast so I'm gonna work with what I got

Re: ABS Headliner!!
you know you could take a heat gun to it and bend all the **** where it needs to go right?
just... don't get TOO heat happy with it and take your time... i.e. dont get it too hot or it will melt, burn, or catch fire.... you'll know when its warm enough because it will be pliable... keep it on the cooler side of hot if that makes sense...
i do understand the point that you shouldnt HAVE to... but... its a way to make yourself feel better about it..

Re: ABS Headliner!!
***update*** I took everything apart, and added some 2 inch pieces of memory foam in places that were bowed, and that worked PERFECT!! Also painted areas around the t-top and headliner black where red paint was showing. Now everything looks way better. The only thing I couldn't fix were the 1 inch gaps on the rear of the t-top frame. Other than that, I am very happy!!!
