ok so i got an 89 iroc on mon and the a/c compresser was out of it and not wanting to put a new one in i want to get rid of the big box everything else was in but i dont see paying over $150 for a peice of fiberglass. so has anyone made there own? if so could you please post pictures to give me an idea on what to do. thank you plus its a pita to change the spark plugs and wires with that big p.o.s. in the way. thanks

I'm in the process of making mine out of the ac box the design looks very much like the one in the link above will post a pic when done

 

get a heaterbox out of a 6cyl s10 pickup, i got mine for 30 bucks and they are steel not fiberglass

 

here's the one im building. i have the stuff laying around to do it so i gave i a shot

 

actually i just foud a non ac car yesterday in the junkyard down the street i got the box the fan and a plastic pillar piece all for $10

 

helps if the attachments load

 

its preety much done. just need to figure out the wiring mess

 

Its not the prettiest thing around but does the job untill i can get a better one.

 

kinda hard to see in the pic. just made it out of some sheetmetal and a piece of 3 inch pipe. then i mounted a vaccuum gauge on top of it. all i wanted was some air for defrosting the window when it rains.
