Idea to ponder: 3rd gen F-body shooting brake

While I was taking time to think today I ran across the crazy idea of converting a 3rd gen F-body to a shooting brake. It would be cool to see somebody take this idea and run with it. If I had the time, cash, and resources I might do it. Any opinions on what you think about this idea?

Are you talking about making a station wagon out of a third gen. It has bean done and I'm not a fan of what came of it.

Yeah...that is what i'm talking about. Jeez that car looks hideous. It needs more attention to body lines. I could draw something up for the occasion as to what I'd expect from a build of this nature.

Shooting brake? I don't think I've heard that term in 40 years! Where are you from? Scotland? Canada? Australia?

Never heard of a shooting brake either. If you want more room in the back I would try designing a new rear hatch lid so if it doesn't work out you can throw the old one back on. IIRC, the latest GM attempts did the same.

I'm actually in the USA. I just ran upon the term shooting brake when looking at a conversion that Callaway makes for the new Corvette.

That my friend is what I'm talking about. It looks real nice and does not look like a hash up using a roof from a station wagon.

Re: Idea to ponder: 3rd gen F-body shooting brake

I know the term shooting brake. I meant I hadn't heard it for 40 years. Sadly I'm older than that. I was born in Scotland and I remember my mother using the term. Not sure how wide spread it is. British (one time) Empire? The other term used in Britain is estate car. I think both expressions come from the gentry with landed estates who needed vehicles to cart around hunting dogs and shooting gear. But you pretty much can't have either of those two things any more so it's just kids and groceries. Haven't Googled the origin of "station wagon". One time Railroad term? I have seen an XKE conversion that looked good for what it was.

I thought shooting brake referred to a fast sporty 2 door wagon. That is where I have seen it plastered. Cars like the Ferrari FF, and the Corvette conversion are where I ran across it. Glad that you clarified the history of the term for us.

This one was actually made by GM as a concept car.

Any legit version where a Camaro chassis was used? All of the good ones are done with a 'Bird.
