Headlights for a Right Hand Drive (RHD) Camaro
I have a 1988 Camaro IROC which has been converted to Right Hand Drive for Australian roads.
I'm reassembling the car after paint and need to replace a couple of damaged headlights.
The stock low beam headlights are no good for Australia as we drive on the left side of the road and the low beam lights need to be angled to the left rather than right.
Can anyone suggest other models of cars that use the same headlights as Camaros?
I'm hoping one of these models will have been sold in Australia so I can get a part number.

Get some UK spec ones, I have imported a couple of cars from the UK and they came with the reverse pattern that you are looking for. they are labelled E11. I think OZ has E45.

Re: Headlights for a Right Hand Drive (RHD) Camaro
Doing some research, it appears these models have the same headlights as Camaros:
1989 Toyota Tercel
1988 Chevrolet Camaro
1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT
1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse
1987 Mitsubishi Galant
1984 Honda Accord
1984 Mazda 626
1984 Nissan 200SX
1984 Nissan Maxima
1984 Toyota Camry
My plan is to find headlights for the Australian models of one of these.
Anyone have a particular recommendation?

Re: Headlights for a Right Hand Drive (RHD) Camaro
No matter which of the cars you listed, it could be interesting to find due to the ages of the vehicles, i cant remember the last time i saw 80's model cars in wreckers.
Toyota Tercel is rare here, 3000gt was different lights for us anyway, we never had the eclipse, Galant can be rarish now.
Honda accord would be one of the easier ones to find. Mazda 626 may be interesting year model to find. Nissan 200sx was called the gazelle, what a shitbox but u should be able to find them easy enough. There was a maxima in 84 ? lol
And toyota be another easy find.
Do you know what size the headlamp is ? is there aftermarket replacements ? thats what i did with my bird.

It's just a regular 6x4 lamp, hella, cibie, valeo and many others makes have these brand new, even in UK specs. Hella: 1LB003 177-511

I was thinking of visiting Super Cheap Auto as well.
The good thing about the headlights in the link above is that they might be am easy HID upgrade.

Other advantages is no fluted lens, the crystal inner lens is meant to help with the brightness and projection, then on top of all this you get to use normal H3 globes, which imo i'd recommend the philips blue vision. No need for hid's

Those are high beam only units I believe.
Bosch makes the 4x6 in RHD or LHD versions.
Early 80s Celica was the same headlight setup too

Yep, got a set of generic 6 * 4 low/high beam lights from Autobarn for $20 each and they fit fine.
For the high beams I'll get a pair of Crystal housings and some Phillips blue bulbs.
The next problem to figure out is front parking lights and indicators.
The car is in pieces right now and doesn't have power.
The cheap plastic light houses in the front bumper cover - are these used for indicators or parking lights?
Do I need parking lights to get a car registered in Vic?
Someone suggested cutting a hole in each of these front light housing so I can run indicators and parking lights - what have others done?

You do require parkers i believe, however just drill a tiny hole in the bottom of the light assembly, put in a single 5mm hi intensity white led and bam you have parkers.
On the firebird they modify the front indicator lens and put a clear section in with parker, it pretty sketchy on quality.
That being said mine use leds for parkers.

Re: Headlights for a Right Hand Drive (RHD) Camaro
Thanks for the tip.
The car was previously registered in Qld, and things must be different up there bacause I can't see an parking lights.
I'm in the process of moving the battery to the trunk, so it's hard to test the lights. I'll try and get it all hooked up today so I can see what's what.

I haven't thought about the wipers.
How are LHD wipers different?
I bought the car as a wreck and have never driven it.
The car is 25 years old now, which I think means there are fewer compliance issues in Vic.

Re: Headlights for a Right Hand Drive (RHD) Camaro
Half the visible windscreen area isn't covered with LHD wipers in the RHD seating position.
I think this has something to do with it, then again just seeing another forum post and such.
It wouldn't be an issue if the vehicle was LHD still, as the area is covered.
With that said however i haven't seen a converted rhd wiper on a rhd car.

I found one of the old park lamp housings and it had an extra hole drilled in it.
I'll have to find a way to drill the same hole in the new housing.

5mm led hole is easier and cleaner than a 12.5mm globe and socket, plus it will probably last longer :-P

Sounds like a good tip to me.
I've got a collection of LED to replace the indicator bulbs so will do this one at the same time. Might have to visit Jaycar for a bulb socket.
