Dual exhaust cross member

I am running headman long tube headers and was wondering how many people have modified there stock transmission cross member. My car is running a 700r4 and its tight under there for dual exhaust.

Re: Dual exhaust cross member

I don't know all the options for plug and play. The adapter plates for different transmissions are sold separately by Holley. You would have to ask them. Maybe you would have to make your own adapter plate.

You CAN run it under the cross member, may be too low depending on what size your using.

I switched to a th350 tubular crossmember for my swap, but the original is literally straight into the cross member, so your going to have to cut it, and weld + mount it in the tunnel away from where you need the header.

Re: Dual exhaust cross member

I've modified my OEM crossmember for as much ground clearance as possible.
This is with Hedman LT headers. The y-pipe was built using mandrel bent pieces welded together in sections.
Still affords about a beer can's worth of ground clearance although truthfully, I've crunched the y-pipe more than once. This is with a "two inch" drop spring package.

Re: Dual exhaust cross member

That more ground clearance than going totally under the stock flat cross member. I plan on fabbing up my own exhaust after I install my sub-frame connectors. Wanna make sure what all space I am gonna have.

Re: Dual exhaust cross member

I have the same crossmember sitting on the shelf.
I was kind of forced into it as my 700R4 is built around a Corvette transmission case and that puts the rear transmission mount of the extension housing rather the case itself. Now my rear trans mounts puts the installed length within a 1/16th of that of a TH400.
Plenty of room for exhaust with this part and it gets the arm off the trans too.
