I would think the weight of the car would be very close to mine.
Looking at the certificate of origin from GM it states the shipping weight as 3429 pounds.

only 3429 lbs! my gta weighs 4225 or something close to that- but what the dramatic weight difference? its almost a 900 lb difference . . .any ideas

everyone thinks that the weight stamped on the door frame plate is what is the actual weight of the vehicle. i do not know why people think this, GVW is the total maximum combined weight including all luggage and passengers that the vehicle can weigh, if you surpass it then it is overloaded by law.
1/2 ton trucks are anywhere from 5,000 to 6,200 or so.
3/4 ton trucks are 7,500 and up and 1 ton are 10,000 and up,
most 70's-older caddies are 5,000-up also
