Should say gross weight on the inside of the door.

91fbirdgta,

I would think the weight of the car would be very close to mine.

Looking at the certificate of origin from GM it states the shipping weight as 3429 pounds.

madmax was really close on his wild guess. madmax could you give me some lottery numbers, only be exact please.:hail:

91fbirdgta,

Your weight can't be right. I pulled an old Motor Trend from July 1988. They did a test on the then new GTA. The published weight is ( 3604 lb ).

The sticker on the door is the GVW, gross vehicle weight. That includes passengers and luggage, the max load you are supposed to put in the car, not the actual weight.

everyone thinks that the weight stamped on the door frame plate is what is the actual weight of the vehicle. i do not know why people think this, GVW is the total maximum combined weight including all luggage and passengers that the vehicle can weigh, if you surpass it then it is overloaded by law.

1/2 ton trucks are anywhere from 5,000 to 6,200 or so.

3/4 ton trucks are 7,500 and up and 1 ton are 10,000 and up,
most 70's-older caddies are 5,000-up also
