Not a third gen, but it till had a lot of miles on it. My friend has a 1984 Hurst Oldsmobile with 300,000 miles on it. The original 307 was still running strong, but the 200-4R had to be rebuilt a few times. It would still be running, but he crashed it into a telephone pole a few months back. He is restoring it though and its almost done. My car had 114,000 miles on it when I purchsed it and now I think it has abotu 125,000 on the odometer. However, that translates into about 4000 miles on the restored body, rebuilt engine, trans and rebuilt rear.

92 Formula 350 with original motor

162,000 on mine, original engine. The trans lasted to 125k before dying. Mobil 1 10W30 since day one, still runs strong.

There's only a couple of them here that are even close to being in the same league as mine....

I have a 78 El Camino 305 with 345,000 miles on the original motor, AFAIK the intake has never even been off of it, but I've only had it since it had about 60k miles on it, in about 84. It did require a timing set at about 330,000 though. My 83 L69 car's chassis has about 325,000 on it, but about everything that can be rebuilt, has been, some things more than once. My 74 454 Caprice convertible has about 265,000 on it. My wife's 91 Cadillac is the least experienced of any of our cars, by far; it only has about 210,000 on it.

Really high milage

I owned a 1984 firebird with the 2.5L (iron madien) engine that had 500,000+ on it before I had to replace the engine.

162,000 kms on my '83 (about 90,000 miles i think)

The old owner thrashed it though, before i got it almost a year ago. The L69 was just beat. The 350 in it now has around 25,000 kms i think.

Just turned 245,000 on the LG4. Never been into engine.
Never been into 700R4 transmition either. Changed ATF only twice. Changed oil only every 7500 miles since new. Used a quart every 3,000 miles when new. Now uses a quart about every 2,000 miles. Highway car, haven't changed brake pads or shoes in 115,000 miles/10 years. Wouldn't hesitate at all jumping in it and driving across the country in it if I had too.

Well, my '91 3.1L made it to 284,000 with no rebuild, no probs, but it is now out of commission....temporarily. Freeze plug busted or rusted or something....its pouring water out of it. I think im gonna go ahead and rebuild the whole damn thing....

So I'm guessing my two 3rd Gens won't be competitive >>

1985 IROC-Z > 3,780 miles
1989 TTA > 1,206 miles

I better get to driving these things :-)

Wow, it was hilarious to read this post from way back...the Formula I talked about above I sold 4 years ago this month. It made its way to 147k, and I found it on a used car lot last summer for sale for $600...I sold it in '02 for $4,000! A tranny seal blew that caused it to spew tranny fluid (but it still shifted when filled up), it needed a whole cat back, and the rust spot on the LR footwell in '02 had grown to a hole I could put my fist through I passed on it...

And now that I bought my RS a mere week ago, I'm glad I did!

Cadillac, I have an '82 Corvette Collector Edition with 450 actual miles. I'm almost afraid to uncover that one, much less drive it.

I need to pick up a nice third gen to drive. I love having the low mileage collectibles, but I do miss taking out the tops and cruising around all afternoon.
