86 350 TPI Trans Am ??

Saw this advertised locally: 86 Trans Am, TPI 350, 4spd auto, sunroof, disc brake posi, very little rust w/extra parts $1500.

Now I know an 86 350 Trans Am is very rare, but does anyone have an exact production figure number. I will be checking this car out so what will the engine code be in the VIN# for the 350 TPI and also the 305 TPI so I can tell quickly if it was originally a 305 T/A or a legit 350 T/A.

The only thing that bothers me is the sunroof listed in the ad. I will be pissed if someone put an aftermarket sunroof in a real 86 350 TPI Trans Am.

Also is there a way to quickly identify a 305 TPI vs the 350 TPI by just looking at it since they are visually identical?

THANKS.

Theres no such thing as an 86 350 TA. There was also no sunroof option. I hope he meant T-tops.

If there is no such thing, then how do you explain the June 1986 issue of High Performance Pontiac with a road test of one.

That was a test car for them after Chevrolet was already doing it with the IROC-Z's. Gotta have test cars.

Yea, like he said... test car.

If there really was a 350 available in 1986, I'd have one. Around that time my family was in the process of purchasing a new Pontiac and the TA was a consideration. I drove a 350 Formula in July 1986 that still had the plastic in the interior, and I do know there wasnt any 86 TA with a 350 available.
