Finally found another TTA...
Finally found another TTA...
Well its been awhile, but another '89 TTA popped up here in CT, and probably like most others I can't wait till the day when I finally buy one. The descrpition is brief and I am going to call the guy, but basically its has T-Tops with leather interior (the most common combination) and has 54,000 miles on it. I am not sure of body condition, I would just assume it flawless....hahah, at leat I hope!! But anyway, he is asking 11,000 for it, which sounds about right to me if the interior and exterior are as good as they should be. Just looking for some second opinons on the price....
Not that this really means anything, but the CPI (Cars of Particular Interest) online price guide says that, in excellent condition, a 20th Anniversary TTA is worth $18,100. I say that it doesn't really mean anything because if you can't find someone willing to pay that much for it, who cares what a price guide says?
TTA
I am up in Mass and just picked up my TTA from Virginia. 54k miles is not high but there have been a few cars in the 30k mile range around $12k. The market for these cars has not been too strong as of late. I looked into purchasing a few different 5k mile cars for around $16k-$17k. This is not to deter you from buying the car as I am sure you will love it. I just thought I would let you know you could negotiate a bit on the price and it would still be a very fair deal for both of you! Good luck.
Yea, thats what I was wondering about how much negotiation room I would have. I found and 8,000 mile car about a year ago and it was at a dealer for 19,000.....which seemed high, but its a dealer.....so I figured a 54,000 mille car from a private sellear would go for less than 11,000....but wasn't completely sure....
I would think you have some room to play on the price depending on how nice the car is. If it is absolutely mint then $11k may not be overpriced at all. Mods done to the car could effect the price as well. Keep me posted on whether or not you pick it up as it would be nice to have another TTA owner not too far away.
Well went and drove the car today....hehehe!! Man oh man!! Anyway here are the details. The car does have 54,000 miles on it. The exterior is in beautiful shape...the interior on the other hand of course shows a little wear. The sides of the front seats need to be replaced, they are slighty worn out. And there are some stains on the carpet that are definately not coming out. And the door panels are tad dirty. But this is all to be expected for a 54,000 mile car. Overall its in very very good shape.
The story on the engine is interesting. Apparently the guy who owend it prior (a friend of this guy) was apparently very fanatical. He thought he heard a noise coming from the engine so in 99 had it torn apart, had heads cleaned, the valves cleaned, steams reseated......pretty much everything!! Rung up a $5000 bill. In the long run, it never fixed the noise he heard. Since the 6's are known to be a little noisy, it wasn't a sound of anything wrong...he just got himself all worked up over it. So the tranny has 54,000 on it, and the engine has 1,500 miles on it. I saw all the reciepts, and the car ran stong and smooth. BEAUTIFUL! It also has a dynomax exhaust because the stock one started to rot, and it has the factory dual tips still in place.
ALSO, he has the original gift box, with all the stickers still rolled up...the audio cassete...the owners manual, and TTA page insert. Plus he still has the plastic emergency credit card key you put in your wallet. Also, the T-top inserts are in the back.
Now, its not in show car shape. Needs some interior work, but thats not what I am looking for. Just something to drive on weekends, and have me and everyone admire it
. He is asking 11,000....but is negotiable....I am thinking of offering 9,000 if i can find the money...what do you think. I think 11,000 is steep, 8500 -9000 might be right
OH, and reason for sale: He is buying a Viper. LOL

Sounds like a good deal to me! I hope you pick it up. If you decide to pass please drop me an email as either myself or a friend would probably buy it. They are a rare sight around here so I would feel bad passing on it. Good luck and keep me posted, it would be nice to have a fellow TTA owner to meet up with.

1987GN....yea, no problem passing it on if i have to pass up on it. I will most likely know by tonight. I already inquired about insurance and its suprisingly affordable. Its gets complicated with getting rid of the 3.1 'bird and then finding a new daily driver (i'd hate to say a civic, but most likely)...but i will keep you posted, and appreciate the help. And of course all the RPO's and VIN checked out. I wrote them all down while I was there...Thanks again.

Hi guys!
I feel that even if he doesn't come down, it's still a good price! Alot of these cars didn't even come with the Owner's Kit. All that stuff adds up! The more stuff he has, the more $$$$ it's worth. I agree, it doesn't have lots of milage. Sounds good on the rebuild with all the reciepts! Most people doen't even have that! That's when you worry!
I feel that whoever gets it, will be very happy!!
Good luck,
George
