I believe they are mutually exclusive, sort of like a 350 and a 5-speed you won't find them together unless it's custom.

Car: 99 Formula
Engine: LS1
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 342
If I recall correctly after '90 there were no 350/T Top combos, though most think none at all existed.

I mean I have a 350, 5 speed, T-top Trans-Am so they exist. But my car was originally a 305 auto before I got mod happy with it

Although it seems that the t-tops didn't come on the L98 cars in 91-92, I believe that 1 or 2 members furnished a copy of their RPO tags that did in fact show both. I don't believe I recall more than those 1 or 2 people being able to furnish actual physical proof though, so I'd guess that it's exceedingly rare.

I'm more skeptical than anybody, trust me. Just read my responses in the new crop of 86 L98s, 85 L98 (now there's a new one), L98 5 speeds, and the other uprising of crap lately. I'm a skeptic. If I recall correctly (and I'm not sure, so I'm not about to start an arguement), 1 or 2 regular board members (i.e. not a noob or somebody nobody trusts) was able to furnish RPO information to validate their car. I just wish I remembered the circumstances and who it was so I could reply to this with more than a hunch.

I know that 92 Firebirds were available with the 350 & T-tops, Formula's for sure. I have no clue why GM would opt for Camaros not to get the same treatment.

I'm not trying to be an a$$ or anything but it's just that nobody has come forward with any proof of this combo. There is nothing ,regarding that combo,in any book for the Camaro other than there were only hardtop versions for the '91-92 Z28.I think that the only way to solve this mystery is to write or email GM and ask them if there were any with T-tops.If there were any I'd say less than 100 350 t-topped Z28s made it out of the factory or was GM authorized.

So 350's and T-tops exist in the Trans-am's and formula's from 92? Or was it only available in the formulas?

I have ONLY seen the formula, I would only assume that the GTA could have gotten them too...

edit: A tell tail sign of a 92 Formula 350 with T-tops is they got the black laced wheels like the T/A. BUT those are easily changed.

For Firebirds, 350/T-Tops:

Only 3 that I have verified that are 91's, all white GTA's.
NONE what so ever in 1992, however it was an option for the 92 Formula with the black 16 inch rims and it was ONLY on the Formula.

This is just a little off topic--but my 89 350 Formula had t-tops. I always wondered why there was water in the back seat floorboard whenever it rained--too much torque!

Maybe this is why finding 350 cars w/tops is kind of rare.

There were aftermarket conversions for both. There were probably a few made, but when I say that I mean it.

You guys ever hear of SFC's?!?!

On 350 equipped '91,'92 Formulas could you get the decal on the side of the car to read "Formula 350" as in earlier years or did all of them just say "Formula" regardless of engine? I know the decal on the hood "hump" said 5.7 liter instead of 5.0 liter. Just curious since I've never seen a L98 91,92 Formula except in pictures.

as far as i know, the 91 & 92 formula only had formula on the doors regardless of motor, the motor size was shown on the side of the hood.

MdFormula350 is correct, in 91-92 FORMULA ONLY on the doors and 5.7 Liter F.I. or 5.0 Liter F.I. on the hood Buldge.

Here is the decals as they were used:

Here is a breakdown:
Year(s) Engine...... Door ................... Hood
87 ...... LG4 4bbl .. FORMULA ............ 5.0 LITER
88-90.. LO3 TBI .... FORMULA ............ 5.0 LITER F.I.
91-92.. LO3 TBI .... FORMULA ............ 5.0 LITER

87-92.. LB9 TPI .... FORMULA............. 5.0 LITER F.I.

87-90.. L98 TPI..... FORMULA 350...... Nothing
91-92.. L98 TPI..... FORMULA ............ 5.7 LITER F.I.

I can post the Parts & Illustration pages if you would like part numbers.

MDFormula350,
yup I got the pictures, and if yo do not mind I will be using them on my website as evidence that the 91 Formula 350 was available with t-tops.

Bandit400,
No problem Bud, There is alot of mis information on the decals for the hoods out there. Some still think that the 87-90 Formula 350 some came with a 5.7 Liter FI hood decal. I can find NO proof of this in the Parts & Illustration manuals, and or in Pontiac Literature, oem Pictures etc.

Glad to be of service...

edit:
Tonyrodz,
Its funny I have seen V6 cars get those stress cracks in the corners. I have not figured out if it is from a manufacturing defect plus the twist from the engine, OR if its only from the engine torque...

John
