I was once told that the AC delete option that my '86 has (thank *** for T Tops) is kinda rare or at least not common. Does anyone else have a AC delete in their car.

You've got it backwards. "A/C delete" implies that air conditioning is part of the base car. No Camaros came with A/C as standard equipment. Therefore, there can be no "A/C delete".

For 1986, there were 167,602 equipped with the optional air conditioning (RPO C60) at a cost of $750. Total production for this year was 192,219. So in a way, having a Camaro with no A/C could be construed as rare, only 13 percent. Rare, but not desirable. Similarly, having a car with the base AM radio is also rare, but you can imagine it's desirability -- little to none.

Ah Willie already covered it. A/C wasnt deleted-it wasnt checked off the option list.

My 89 Vert doesnt have A/C and it was just ordered that way.

Thanks "Willie" and "IROCz". This just further confirms my belief that the original owner of my car was concerned with (based on the RPO's)speed and weight along with their wallet.

Mine, although not an 86 but rather an 84, did not come with A/C nor a radio brand new. Num nuts took a hack saw to the dash. They did a sh*tty job cutting the holes to fit nothing more than a smaller version of a dryer hose in there. Judging by the crappy wire job to the radio, I'd say it's safe to say a radio did not exist in the car either. Of course, my car is one of the extremely rare Iron Duke cars with no A/C nor radio. This thing didn't come with ANYTHING brand new. I wouldn't mind the idea of restoring the car to it's original condition with the exception of a hopped up Iron Duke.

The Camaro I parted out last month was a non-A/C car. It had T-tops, am/fm/cass ERS stereo, 2.8 auto., rear defog. But, had NO A/C, tilt, cruise, or power anything. It was an '87, BTW.

AC delete seems to be rare.

Just read what Willie wrote, so what I said is incorrect, but you get the point.

My Z was ordered/bought without A/C.In fact it had not too many options at all.I had the lovely base vinyl interior,4 speed T10,3.23 posi disk rear(J65 car from factory) and that about sums it up.I guess whoever ordered it was looking to go as fast as they could with that killer 140hp 305 this beast came with(pun intended).I like the fact my Z has very few options at all,I prefer manual windows,no A/C and the such for my toy. Some other parts and pieces have been changed along the way obviously but even with its lack of options,it may not be considered rare but you don't see many third gens like it nowadays.
