Console Clock...who has one?
Is the console clock rare? I have seen alot of camaros with them (mine included). I know the books say only 1200 or whatever. Who on here has one?

I don't have my white book handy, but the console clock is somewhat rare. Only 809 cars in 85 had it. I don't recall the numbers on the earlier years though. The clock was put into cars that came without the am/fm radio. The am/fm radio and am/fm/cassette radios had a clock in them. The junk AM radio did not have a clock, so buyers got the console clock. I believe that the console clock could be ordered individually as well, but I've never seen a car that came with the am/fm and the clock.

only 809 in 85? man now I feel kinda bad for taking mine out and replacing my console
Damn thing didnt work, mounts were broken, the other console looks much better. I have an 85 IROC, I have seen the clock in a few earlier berlinettas but thats about it. I will have to check my RPO's to see what stereo my car came with.

If your IROC came with the AM radio, it would have a different harness that didn't have a +12 battery (constant) feed. In my IROC I had to run a new dedicated battery feed.

actually I dont remember for sure...I didnt have to run a new wire for my stereo, but that doesn't mean that I didnt rob 12 volts from somewhere else in the car
hmmm like maybe the lead for the non-functional clock...I'll look at my RPO's when I get home.

It also has the emblem on the dash that said it came with the ERS (Extended Range Sound system) so I assume it came with a cassette. I don't know for sure because the factory stereo was gone when I bought it.

Here's in the old 85 IROC, which came with an AM radio.

Just a FYI for you guys. The console clock can be repaired. I found one in a junk yard but the minute hand was broken. I did some research to locate parts. It turns out Wesclox (the original mfg.) no longer stocks the parts, but has sold all it's inventory to a place called "The Clock Doc" (800) 256-5362. The owners name is Bill. He can repair the lens by milling it and polishing or sell you another. Lon.

I was about to send my clock off. However, since I had removed it, I simply blew it out with canned air, then shot the heck out of it with WD-40. It's been working for several years now. I polished the lens myself.

Hmm too bad I tossed the old console and clock.....but some genius before I owned the car couldn't figure out where all the bolts for the console upper were and cut it in half
and the screw mounts for the clock were busted off, tried fixing it a couple times but they kept breaking. oh well its not stock but it looks better

Those 2nd hands are VERY brittle! I've managed to break 2 of them so far.

In my YEARS of interest in 3rd Gens dating back to when I was a teenager and through all the years of seeing these cars and knowing people that owned them I have never seen or heard of this analog clock until I found this site. The analog clock looks weird to me although it appears stock like it was meant to be there.....

I took mine out yesterday to paint the second hand needle-orange the way it was originally! Anyways, I figured out an easy, no break way to remove the needles. First, the clock has to be out (duh), then after you take off the lens, hold the middle part of the second hand needle (where it goes on the shaft), and pull, it should come off! then, to get the minute and hour hands off, one at a time, hold on to the middle part and pull slightly and turn the time-set **** like your setting the time, and it comes right off. Its an easy way to do it and they don't break! I even did it twice to make sure.

They pop right off pretty easily. I broke one of mine trying to bend it back to straight. It was bent up and was scoring the plexi cover. I forget how I managed to break the other one, but it may have been when I was taking it off.
