The car that went for $110,000 was a blue Yenko Camaro. The only COPO's I saw were all iron block 427's and not ZL1's. The orange iron block COPO of Reggie's went for like only $70K which beats the hell out of me because I'd take a real COPO 427 over a fake Yenko one....

I do not know what the COPO or the Yenko originally sold for, but lets do some MATH shall we???

If you take $5000, which would be close to what either of those cars would have cost in 1967 and invest it in reasonably good stocks at roughly 10% intrest (Which would not have been hard over the past 35 years)

you would get $140,512.18 in 2002

My point is this, buy cars to enjoy, if your rich, collect them, if you want them for an investment, expect to be poor.

And if you kept the money in those same stocks over the last 1.5 years, the value would drop from $140k to $25k.

It's irrelivent what "most" people would pay. The car is still a highly collectable car regardless of whether some schmuck thinks it's not worth the money because it doesn't out perform his brand new car.

as for the 60s corvette They are NOT 10 yrs old. as for the 4th Gen I have seen them go up in Vaule (grant it its not much but they have gone up in vaule) more then anything the last year or so.
Collectability doesn't get based on age.

as for the 82 Pace car after Recieving an email from someone that Helps ppl Reg these cars They have only found 34 of them with disc breaks (I dont know how many of them where out there) I have #35 right now. (because I havent Reg my car)
Disk brakes don't make the car special. Just because there's only 34 out there with disk brakes doesn't override the fact that there's still no shortage of pace cars. You can find ANY specific option package and I guarantee that it's rare. Any car that has as many options available as the thirdgens are going to result in each car being pretty unique. My IROC was fully loaded except for an open diff and an AM radio. I guarantee that VERY few IROCs were ordered that way, but I'm also smart enough to realize that it doesn't ad $.02 to the value of the car.

How about the other rear F-bodys out there???? the 11 1LEs that were made? (dont have my book in fornt of me or I will have the year) or the 2 82 Camaros with the 350 in them???????
There were 4 1LEs in 88, 111 in 89 and 28 in 1990. The only 82 camaros that got the 350 were the actual pace cars, at least one of which is owned by GM. Since it was not a production vehicle, it really has no bearing on anything.

But anyway, the 1LE cars are among the most sought-after thirdgen Camaros because they were a combination of the absolute best performance you could get in a thirdgen camaro, as well as having extreme rarity. That's what it takes for a car to be very collectable. 1 or the other doesn't really matter. You've got to have that combination of both. This is also why the Firehawk is so ungodly desirable. It's by far the best performing thirdgen ever sold through the dealer, and it's ultra rare. Like it, hate it, or whatever. Trying to discredit it as a legitimate collectable car is silly.

I'm more likely to spend $30k on a car that is 20yrs or older that is a rare car. like my Pace car.
...I don't understand your logic at all...I don't see how when a vehicle was built has any bearing on it's collectibility.

There were only 25 or so firehawks made...if I had the money I would sure as hell pay $30k for one...anyone can go out and buy a new T/A or SS for $30k, but how often do you see a 3rd gen firehawk?

I want to know what it is?
I read that at least one of the cars started life as your average run of the mill 3rdgen, f-body and then was pulled from a dealer to be converted into a firehawk...so maybe it is a was 1991 formula that was converted to a Firehawk in 1992?

If you read my web page I posted you would have seen that it was #27 not #6 that was taken off the dealer lot and made into a Firehawk.

Yes the pictures on my site are the same car, there is only 1 #006.

It's amazing the lack of knowledge in this thread. Granted I don't know all the info on the firehawks, but they are very rare and desirable cars. I mean come on, TTAs get gauked at and there are about 1555 of those.

Willie commented on this in another thread. The subject about the foglights and the ERS stereo were questioned. If you can't believe the seller, check the buildsheet that he posted. It says 1988, ILE, foglights and stereo. You can't really question official documentation. Also, this car is 1 of the first 4 of the 1LE's. The standards that the 1LE's followed during the later years might not have been in effect for the first 4.

People seem to forget, yo do not lose money until you sell, Even if it is work 25K, it will rebound up to 140K again.

People committed souiside in 1929, they put too many eggs into one basket, and lost their shirt. What they did not realize is if they would have held in there for 13 or so years, their stocks would have gone through the roof because of WWII...

Unfortunately we live in a society where we need everything now and everything must be hunky dory to be happy. Life is not like that, when you struggle through the hard times in the end you come out a stronger person.

sheesh isnt that off topic, not really...

Cool Thread

Is price relative, I believe it worth what your willing to pay for it, and if you think its to high then your either jealous or wish you could buy it but cant. Its a sweet car but I rather have the comp package.

Ive own allot of fast cars in the past. Ive had my GTA for almost a year now and I still get a $h*t *** grin on my face every time I roll the throttle. I can honestly say this has been the best all around fun car Ive ever owned, and you cant put a price on that.

This is incorrect, as in 89 there were 1555 TTA's that came with the 1LE package.111 TA's so actually 1666 had 1LE cars were produced.

Just an FYI

THATS RIGHT!!! trying to discredit a legitimate collector car...wow thats what alot of people on this board have done to the TTA.

I would love to have a 3rd gen FH to sit beside my TTA.

ALSO i think the TTA 's performance ranks it as a best peforming 3rd gen if not equal to the Firehawk and had a higher top speed than the firehawk.

I do not think we are trying to say there NOT collectable, I just think there overpriced.

As for being jealous, not at all, If I really wanted one I could buy one, its a choice to be wise with my money. Technically speaking tho, Envious would be a better description, Jealousy is when you are afraid of losing your girlfriend to another guy. Envy is when you wish you had something that someone else has and you feel that they do not deserve it.

It's sad. It took GM till 1998 to finally get an f body to outrun these monster thirdgens. Didn't firehawks go a mid to low 13's just like the TTA? So even if you did buy a brand new trans am or z28, you would be going just about as fast as this 10 to 13 year old car. And why would someone want a ZR1? Actually I don't mind them it's just that it's unreliable as hell, has the C4 looks and barely ran a 12.9 on it's best day with 405 hp. Another reason someone might not want a ZR1 is when it breaks. Try finding a specialized dealer that can fix it. Be prepared to be raped in the **** from the bill! Especially if you break one of the Lotus parts in it!!

If anyone had any doubts you can post the VIN on the slp board WWW.SLPENG.COM and they will verify that it is what the seller claims and give you the official build #.
