CA Emissions Label, am I screwed?

My '84 15th is missing the under hood CA emissions label. In CA it is required for passing smog as part of the visual inspection because it contains the proper vacuum hose diagram.

I called my local GM dealership knowing it would be long discontinued but still hoping to get a part number so I could see if there were any dealers in the U.S. who happened to still have one on their inventory. Well their computer didn't even show a CA label, only the federal one! Am I completely screwed? I know for 84 that there of course was specific CA one because I have seem them before on other CA '84 15th's, they say "CA" specifically on the label.

Where can I get one? Are there repro's made yet or do I just have to hope to find a CA 84 305 H.O. Trans Am in a junkyard that has the sticker still on it then somehow manage to remove it intact?

I,d try calling the State owned smog referee station, and see what they have to say. My guess is that they would wave your car. Alot of things can happen to a sticker under the hood.

p.s. I lived in San Diego for five years, i had to have my 66 Dodge charger waved by the smog ref becuase it wouldn't pass.

Well that's not the only problem I have, I have a friend that works at a smog place that already passed it last week but I'd still like to have the sticker as part of my resto....

Now you may have a problem. I know what you mean, I like "totally stock" restorations also

I have an 84 sticker, but for an LG4 not an L69.

Dont recall it being california specific. I'll have to look later.

Looking at my copy of the GM standard parts catalog dated April 1989 lists a 1984 Pontiac F-car emissions decal with the 305 engine code "7" equipped with California emissions as part no. 14073583. This has to be a misprint since the L69 VIN code was "7" for 1983 only. I'm sure this is the decal you are looking for.

Hmm... it IS California specific. Has this little blurb down on the bottom of the sticker.

Well then I guess GM Part # 14073583 is the one that I want because like mentioned, the CA stickers do have a comment on the bottom about CA requirements....

Thanks!

Classic Industries lists in their C2002 catalog pg 261, a 1984 emissions sticker for 305 w/CA emissions. Their p/n is DC252 $5. They also list a sticker in their 2000 Firebird catalog #DT771 for 84 w/305-4V AT, CA (XJU) $5.

Jim Osborn Reproductions, 770 962-7556, makes their decals. JOR lists one for the '84 with CA emissions as #DT0799 @ $5.00.

The Classic Industries sticker is for LG4's, and isnt the VIN code "7" for the 305 crossfires in 82-83? The VIN code for an L69 is "G".

I just bought one from Jim Osborn Reproductions, they did have one specifically for the 1984 Trans Am 305 H.O. AND it was CA specific! Only like $9 w/Shipping!

I found their web site and I also ordered some decals for my 92

Thanks!
