I was too young, but those wheels look like crap. Though I'm sure they don't care.

Dug this up....

Pontiac also began its association with IMSA's Street Stock Endurance class in 1985. Doug Goad and his father, retired Pontiac Special Engineering Manager Tom Goad, campaigned a specially-prepared Firebird Trans Am for the Wheel to Wheel Inc. racing team. After one second place finish out of five races entered in 1985, the duo won the 1986 Sebring Six-Hour endurance race, registering the first American professional racing win by a father-son driving team. Over the years, Doug Goad has secured 33 career race wins and logged over 40,000 miles in Pontiac Firebirds.

That's a pretty cool pic. This might be common knowledge, but there were quite a few F-bodies in the SCCA Trans-Am series back in the '80's. It would be cool to see some pics of those cars.

awesome pic Don
There's a gas station near me with some race car posters on the walls, and one of 'em is a red third gen T/A race car of some type.. never seen it before anywhere else, afaik. it looks like an 85-90 style with ground effects. if i can talk the people into letting me snap a pic, i'll post it here some time.

I like how the T/A is leading the Camaro

I also used to have a Matchbox car of the yellow #55 STP T/A....boy, that takes me back.
