89 Gta Info

I have a friend that is looking at an 89 GTA convertible. Trying to find out how many were actually made by GM. Hearing around 30. If there is anyone that can provide any info, it would be grately appreciated. Thanks.

The exact number of GTA 'verts is not known, only the number of all 89 'verts. 330 or 338 are the 2 numbers most people agree upon....

Being told by the person that owns the car that this triple black car is one of 31 that GM built not ASC. Did GM actually build any verts? Thanks

No, GM never buily any 3rd Gen 'verts unless they were special prototype cars. ASC is the company that GM contracted to do the 'verts. Sorry but the info he gave you was wrong.....

You'll probably never get the right number. Its less than 500, more than 5. The 350 cars are supposedly less common, and I keep hearing a number of 50 thrown around.

Any way you slice it, there were few. And the above is right, ASC did all the conversions, GM never did any that were sold.

Thanks for all the info. What about the number of triple black verts in 89? Also what would fair price for a one owner less than 35,000 mile car? Thanks again.

Records were never kept for option combos.

Price is also up in the air, depends on what you think its worth, and what sorta condition the car is in. Its not listed in any bluebook, so you wont be able to go that route either. I did sort of a compilation between GTA's, and added value of convertibles both later Firebird verts and the Camaro verts, and came up with some numbers before I bought mine. I'd say 6k-up to maybe 10k. The market right now is kinda soft, so keep that in mind.

Thanks for all of your help. I am not sure if my friend is going to purchase the car or not. But all of your info was a big help.
