Electronic Trunk release

Hey guys, quick question, i was wondering what year they started putting electronic trunk releases on all 3rd gens and caprices. Actually on all cars to be broad. Just wondering. Was it a special option? Or just stock? Thanks

electric hatch release Should be standard or available for all thirdgens from 1982 - 1992. I can't think of any thirdgen where it would be unavailable. Some cars had it as mandatory equipment. The RPO code I believe is A90 but don't quote me on that.
hope this helps, GT

Ya Electric release should be on all 3rd gen's it would be the power pull down that would have been an option.

As my 89 GTA had a PPD and my current 85 Z has just a release

On Camaros, I believe the PPD was an option beginning in 1986 (?) This option was available on luxury cars (Cadillac, Lincoln, etc.) as far back as the 70's or maybe even late 60's.

Electric release was an option. None of my 3 sport coupes have it. My 86 does have the power pull down.

None of the verts have a trunk release because... if you open the tonneau and the trunk at the same time, you just screwed up something.

Verts use the hatch/trunk release for the tonneau.

The hatch release was available on any thirdgen, except verts.

On my particular 'vert that would be next to impossible to do w/o the occurance of some sort of mechanical failure.... my tonneau release is above the driver's side rear seat armrest- located on the tonneau itself. Guess I just want another button on my console that does something. Hard to believe I'm too lazy to get out of the car and manually pop the tonneau to raise/lower the top which I would have had to get out of the car to do anyway...
