They never made a 350 with a 5spd. It has been said that the T-5 transmission wouldn't hold up to the abuse.

In truth it all depends on how you drive it and how well you treat it. But that may or may not be the reason GM chose not to offer it.

If you ever see a 350 with a 5spd it's not an original engine or perhaps not an original transmission.

P.S. Welcome to the boards.

yes, From 1987 ~ 1992 the 305 TPI was avaialble with the 5 Speed... I personally own an 87 Formula.

The combo of 5 Speed, 305TPI (LB9) and T-tops seems to be a desirable combination around here.

305TPI (LB9) 5spd cars got a better cam then the automatic cars did. If you also got the G92 option with 5spd and LB9 you have quite a find. that would give you a engine oil cooler and a true dual exhaust with dual cats. All in all over 30HP more than your standard automatic LB9 305TPI. Also G92's got a better set of gears. 3.23 or 3.42. I believe.

The 305 5 Speed cars got the same cam as the 350 Engines.

IN 1990-1992 for the Firebirds they did some odd things with the Cams & such, SOM of the M5 cars I believe got the "peanut" cam... This is the information I found through the Firebird Parts & Illustration manual.

No ThirdGen ever came from the factory with true dual exhaust. Dual cats YES, but not dual exhaust.

You could always do the swap. The 305 is a good engine, but the 350 is just better and is what you really wanna go for, unless u don't mind an Auto.
