I have an 88 Roc and I saw on the IrocZone.com history of Irocs that my 305TPI should have the 145 speedo. But really it has the 115 I do have the 5500 redline though anybody know why. Its a real Iroc i ran the RPO's a while back and its came with the TPI.

5500 redline is right... only the L69 (4 barrel HO) had a higher redline @ 6000 (factory says 6000, tach says 5500).

As for the speedo... there were different ones available for the same cars in the same years.

I've seen at least 4 different speedos for '83.

 

Something doesn't seem right....

I thought 305's had a 5000 RPM redline; the 350's had the 5500 RPM redline.

My '87 IROC (305) has 145 MPH speedometer with a 5000 RPM redline tach.

 

Nope, all the V8 cars had a 5500 redline on the tach and a 5000 yellow-line, i'm sure.

 

no, the auto 305's had the 4500 yellow line and 5,000 redline.

 

peanut cam 305s had 4500 yellow and 5000 red lines. i heard that all 350s had 145 speedos and 305 TPI cars with 3.23 gears had 145 speedos. All other 305 TPIs had 115. I am not sure about manual cars. And i know 85 the highest was the 85 speedo.

Yea I know its not the G92 it had a 3.08 posi when I blew it. Everyone just seems to have the 145 speedo and I was wondering why I didn't.

 

You answered your own question. You don't have G92. Only the cars equipped with the z rated 245/50/16 tires had the 145 speedo. And those tires were part of the G92 package. The 235/55/16 tires were only s rated I believe and came with the 110 mph speedo.

 

I have a G92 '87 IROC w/305TPI and 700R4 (which also meant, peanut cam).

My speedo is the 145mph and my yellow line on the tach is at 4500 and the redline is 5000.

0k, I was talking about the speedo. You have G92 which is why you also have the 145 speedo. It has nothing to do with the tach. As I said before, it has to do with what tires came with the car. What you said is true. The auto 305's all got the peanut cam except for I believe 85. The 5 speed 305's had the L98 cam as did the L98's obviously.

 

But my tire guide on the inner door panel says 245/50/16 and the speedo goes up to 115 not 110. I dunno maybe they just messed up?

 

No IROCs came with the 235 tires. Only the RS cars with 16" wheels got those. All IROCs with 16" tires got 245 50 16 tires.
