new (used)car

I sold my honda civic. i just bought an 85 trans am, automatic, with the 5.7 I'm a brand spanking newbie to the f-body, but it looks and feels so much better than the econobox. does anyone know how many horses that engine puts out? its all stock by the way.

If its a real 5.7, its not stock, therefore it may be harder to tell. The reason I say this is because a 350 was not offered until '87 in the 3RDGEN.

Probably 220-245 if it is actually a 350.

What makes you think it is the 5.7? Did previous owner swap out motors?

I bet it's a 305 and the previous owner thought it was a 350. It's amazing how many people think the 5.0s are 5.7s ..even Chevy service mechanics.

Welcome to the board and to the world of GM performance and fun!

The 85 5.0 was so hot that many people seemsed to mistake it for a 350.
