Did they make an Iroc Z in 1991?
Ok before I get ragged I know there was not an Iroc Z in 1991. I know 1990 was the last year. I am buying a 1991 Z28 and the car was made in August of 1990. Im buying it from the original owner and the car has a yellow Z28 Iroc Z badge on the dash and he keeps saying its an Iroc Z. I told him that they didnt make them in 91. He says when he bought the car new that it had that emblem on the dash. I finally have giving up arguing with him. But I am puzzled, I have never seen a Yellow Iroc Z dash emblem before.
Now to my question. I have heard that GM released about 100 Irocs in 91 before they lost the name and they just never acknowledged it and didnt put the outer decals on them. Is it possible since this car is one of the first Z28's made in 91 it could be one of those Irocs that slipt out.? The emblem appears to have been on the car since new. The car only has 50,000 original miles.
This car is White w/ Grey cloth deluxe interior, 350 TPI and all options except rear disc brakes and t-tops.

I never heard of a 1991 IROC, but you might want to check out the RPO codes to be sure. I don't know off hand what the code for the IROC was, sorry. I hope this helps a little.

Well I know they didnt have them and I know that GM lost the Iroc name to Dodge but they had the name at the start of the production.
Thats why I was wondering if by chance they did slip some out. This guy swears up and down that the car came with the Iroc emblem on the dash and I have never seen a yellow one before. But I do know they didnt have them atleast they didnt acknowledge that they did.

I have heard that GM released about 100 Irocs in 91 before they lost the name....
Impossible. The last 1990 IROC-Z was produced in December, 1989. Since Chevrolet lost the IROC contract for 1990 and could no longer use the same, all Camaro production ceased in December 1989. Zero 1990 Camaros were built in 1990.
The 1991 Camaro made it's debut in April 1990, about six months earlier than the average release date of every model year, around September or October.
Based on the above facts, a 1991 IROC-Z would be an impossibility.

different body color and interior combinations gave way to altering dash colors. not to mention nowdays you can get them in any color you want.
there are no 91 irocs and it should only say z28 in yellow.
