Just entered my VIN and it said it has 11 reports on file. Would it be worth it to pay the 14.99 to see what they are? I've had the car 6 months. The only problems I have had are the starter needed rebuilt and it overheats sometimes.

I would. When I purchase any vehicle I always check on carfax first. It kind of gives you some history as too where the car was.
Or any type of rollback, or accidents

it is worth it too me

I did mine, just for fun really. It tells you where the car's been clocked in for miles (usually at inspection stations and such) and any accidents or anything. I think it's worth it.

I did all 6 of ours a while back. That was before we had the vette then When we were looking at the vette I did it that way we had information on it. It tells you how many owners were before you, any wrecks the car was in, roll back what have you. plus a month of other car faxs

I did it for my RS and another 82 T/A I owned before. Pretty interesting if you want to know about your cars past.

I did both of mine. Happy to find out: no accidents and the mileage is legit.

I went and did it. Millage is legit and no accidents. It said 2 owners but as many times that it says title issued I'm like 7th owner. i was told i was like the 4th owner of the car. emissions inspection happened 3 times. first was at 50,000 miles in 1994. then at 58,000 and 68,000 miles. longest owner ship according to the titles issued was from 1994 to 1998. Car was first bought 12/12/85 with 9 miles on it.

as of now the car is in my onwership (DUH!) and has 100,023 miles on it. Rolled 100,000 about 5 hours ago!

i thought carfax was unbeatable, until i ran a check on a car i had traded in to a dealer a month later. i went to type in the new car but accidently typed in the old car. couldnt believe what i found. i purchased the car with 25k on it. that person lived in PA. that was legit. i then traded it in several years later with 103k on the clock in NJ. but when i checked the carfax it said it NJ with only 61k on it! after some research and a trip to the dealer i found the car on a used car lot about 20 miles away. turns out the wholesaler took the car back to PA, ran it thru an auction, then brought it back to NJ with the odometer rolled back! so when you looked at carfax it showed first owner, 0 miles, then second owner 25k miles (me) then 61k miles third owner. i even signed the form NJ requires to state actual mileage, and it said 103k. even the dealer i traded it in to couldnt believe it.

Damn! Dontcha hate scammers?...... Opps,.....almost forgot who I was talking to. But, I'm sure you could relate, you having 1st-person experience!

Anyways, carfax shows my mileage (238,xxx) as being correct for my 88 TA. But, it does not show a wreck my car was in before I bought it. I know about it because I have receipts for fender repair/replacement and paint,....covered by insurance.

All in all, I wasn't too impressed w/ it.

You might actually only be the 4th owner. I sold cars for a couple years so I can explain how extra titles are issued. When a dealer buys cars at an out of state auction they have to apply for a title in their home state. The title is issued in the dealers name, and when you buy the car then another title is issued in your name. So in effect the car changed owners 1 time, but carfax will show 2 titles. Or another scenerio is an owner moves to another state, and gets a new title for his new state. Don't assume that each title listed in a car fax indicates an owner change. That is not true at all.

238k miles does a body damn good. I'm willing to bet that $20 you stole from me that my car car is just as solid if not more (since all your suspension peices must be worn the hell from all the sitting it does in your garage) than yours. I'll even take you on a nice long ride through some country roads if you would like.

We all know you wouldn't spend a nickle on anything because you are too cheap. I bet you would however steal or break into my car to get that nickles worth of spare change I might have sitting in the ash tray.

mr 4mul8tr i must say it looks like you have a mighty fine ride. when i here of t/a's with that kind of milage i think of junk. my first had 149k on the clock and it was the biggest pos i ever owned. the downside of buying something old with too many miles thats not in good shape is you end up spending just as much if not more than you would on a low mileage beauty by the time you fix it up.
i also think you should not bash fellow members of this board whenever you make a post. people visit this board to learn more about the 3rd gen f-body, not to listen to some baby whine because his diaper needs to be changed.

Car: To many to list
I ran 2 of my cars through it and they both came back clean. But both had been in accidents before and one was even totalled out. That didnt show up either.Just because you car comes back clean dosent mean it has never been in an accident. It may have never been through insurance,or may have not went to a high quality shop.So dont believe everything on carfax.

I did that on both my cars. Both came up clean. I'm like the 3rd owner on my 86, but my 91 is a real *****, im like the 12th owner, the car spent like a year at a dealer b4 it was bought.
