classic car? question for mods.
I just got through reading the post called "any cheaper and i will be giving them away", on the post it was stated that the 87 convertibles hit classic car status.Willie gave me alot of unknown to me information on my 87 LT sport coupe convertible, saying he only knows of a few of that particular model left.my question is when i go to get my car licensed for the road again(its off the road for some new carpet, top ,etc, does it qualify for classic car tags? thanks for all your help.

That is up to your home states DMV. It doesn't matter what KBB or NADA say. Your state's DMV makes it's own rules as to what is and isn't a classic. Usually it had to be 15 years old or more, and be considered a collectable model.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Only the age of the car is important. Here in Arizona, it's 25 years. I know in some states (Texas being one), once a car is considered a classic, the owner has the option to use original plates issued by that state in that year! I think that's really cool. Car swap meets are the only place I know of to find old plates in excellent condition. Other states only issue "classic" plates.

Also, at least in Wisconsin, your car has to be 20 years or older and "bone stock", no after market stereo's, wheels etc.

Here in Washington state:
Vehicles at least 30 years old and older with either collector vehicle license plates or a Washington license plate manufactured for use in the same year as the vehicle manufacture date.
So I have 10 more years on my 82.

Illinios its 20 years, and then you can get antique plates.

(Profanity Edited) -- I will NOT tolerate this on my board.
But it does not really matter there are plenty of ilegal cars running around here emissions wise, there are ways to get around eveything. And everything from ilegal lighting (r*cers! lol) to loud as hell cars. People over look a car if it is a classic or on its way to be one.
