Those with the locking cargo lid
Those who have the rear locking cargo lid in the back.. Any idea how it's put in? is it sheet metal screws? I'm planning on upgrading mine to have that.. and I'm wondering if there will be any provisions under my carpet to just screw em in.. Or am I gonna need to drill some holes?
When i installed mine in my Formula it did not have one i just drilled 4 holes (not do deep) i put masking tape on the drill bit so it didn't goo into the gas tank, then ran 4 bolts (not long) in and it's been that way for a year.

hmm I think were thinking about the same thing, but mine is just part of the plastic piece on the drivers side of the hatch area...its built into the plastic in the hatch area.

not that little door grngryoutmyway .. I'm refering to the larger optional lid that came with the Luxury Package. it covers the well area in the back.
Thanks Dave84Bird, thats what I may have to do..
Also Does anyone know if this lid will still work ok if I don't have the rear most panel that tyically goes with the Lid? If I got just the lid and installed it, even though it would not lock.. the little ridge that is there may support it right?

The lip of the of the rear piece that accompanies the shelf is not only wider, but as I recall, also has some rubber bumpers that would dampen noise. Plastic on plastic might be unbearable.

I added the locking cover just as you mentioned. I got someone to supply me with the exact dimensions and spacing of the bolts so I could put mine in perfectly.
I didn't drill holes, I made mounts with bolts in them and had them tack welded on. I don't like the idea of drilling right over the tank. It could also then become a source for rust.
E-mail me and I can provide the bolt locations and a couple pics.
And yes, you NEED the back plastic piece made for the cover. It does have a much bigger lip and rubber sound dampeners. A regular one won't fit. Also check if you have a power pulldown unit, because I think that changes the shape of the back piece.

The mounts themselves may still be available from GM.

Well I guess then, the hardest part will be in locating a Medium Beechwood rear panel, with Power Pull down.. In A+ condition.. Mounting the storage lid would be the task after..

Actually Dave, does not have the right parts yet.. what you see there is Tan.. a much lighter color than what I have. Does anyone know how Dave is doing? I have not had any replies from him via e-mail.. and the fire went through the town he lives in.. I hope he has not lost his home..
