L69 86 trans am value?????

a friend of mine picked up a 86 ta that originaly was a ho 305 . problem is the original motor is not in the car due to the fact the car sat with a cracked block for 7 years and he put a 350 in it, its legit i first noticed it by the emmisions tag, and the hood still has the vin sticker on it.... i could get this car pretty cheap, just wanted a litlle input. thanks

Go for it! I wish I could find an 86 H.O. car.

If it is indeed a 1986 TA with the correct VIN indicating an L69, then it is rare ...

95% of all 1986 cars equipped with the L69 were shipped to Canada to be run in the Player's Challenge Series.

IF you want help determining if this car is a players car, let me know.

Mark.

FYI only 26 L69 86 T/A's were built.

The eight digit of the Vin # should be a "G" to indicate an L69.

"F" was the LB9
"H" was the LG4

Just thinking out loud, but maybe you could get a correctly dated L69 engine out of an 86 Monte Carlo SS and bring back some of the cars originality.

I had a neighbor with an original HO 86 car here in MI... had the correct VIN ... I am still kicking myself for not just buying it off of him regarless of the fact he swapped a 350 into it.

Aren't the Monte's fuel injected?? You'd need the CCC carb setup to be original. BTW, I will be pulling the L69 from my '83 HO in a couple months and it's a great running 305!!

But I'll be making room for a built 406 from a performance machine shop.

The L69 was rebuilt under 10,000 miles ago, .030 over, rebuilt heads w/teflon seals added. Has 950 in machine work alone. Either I'm keeping it on a stand and putting it in something else, or selling it. I have the original intake and cam, but has a Weiand action plus intake and rebuilt E4ME on it now along with a Crane 2040 Compu-cam.

only montes that ever came with fuel injection were 87-88 4.3 v-6 cars, never did they use fuel injection on the v-8
