Why shouldn't paint and rims count? It's an expensive specifically for your car.

I haven't spent anything on paint or rims yet.

Anyways, since I bought my current car in mid April, I spent around $2,525 on it not including tax, oil, antifreeze, registration, custom plates, title, show registration, etc.... I have all of my receipts, but don't feel like digging them up to verify, so....accurate to $100+/-.

Expecting to costs to soar to a total of around $8,000 by the end of spring

Total in third gen parts, since I've had 4 third gens is about $3,025 which is not much more. than what I have in my good one alone.

Total parts including purchase of the 4 cars is about $9,275. Damn...could have bought a 4th gen. Oh well, who wants one of those things?

This is a good question. Since I do not have all my receipts here with me, I can take a good accurate guess at this one.

I have over $3500 in my car just this year. (Over $2000 since a t-56 swap is not technically a restore) Oh yeah, paid $2500 for the car a little over a year ago...

And this is just a low ball guess I mind you. And I am no where near done with the car, well for my standards anyway.

Remember guys, this is the History/Restoration board. Costs to mod are irrelevant, only costs to restore to original. I do not know if this was the intent of the original question but can only assume so.

I'll keep keeping a close eye on this thread and if it continues on its current path, it does not belong here.

Well, depends if you mean January 1st, 2004 - February 15th, 2004 or the 2003 year.

2003 - $9k
Most of that was in the engine and transmission

2004
$2k - so far, still have another, oh, 10+ to go

Having it painted, restoring the interior, new brakes, etc...

Hmmm, I guess you can say my Z28 is a resto-mod.

Aside from the cowl hood, I want the exterior and interior to be as close to factory as possible.

For that, paint: @3000
New moldings, and chin spoiler GM: bout $260
New badges, GM: Gift from g/f

others

Stereo, bout $500 so far
Engine $700 in bolt ons
Exhaust $700 (no headers yet)
Suspension $350

Misc like tires, brakes, about $600
Got an SLP posi not installed yet, $100
Alternator, starter, fuel, and oil filters AC Delco From GM
Mostly any other misc stuff i get is genuine GM.

BTW, ive only had the car for 2-1/2 yrs

I figure when i hit the $12-15k mark ill be done. (who am i kidding)

Which one? There are three.

I would have to guess less than $1000 because everything came from the local salvage yard. Besides if I actually made a list it might fall into the wrong hands...my wife's!!

So $171

Of course that's not counting the LS1/A4, 3200 Yank, PCM wiring harness, LS6 heads, cam, LS6 intake, custome 1 3/4 LT headers, 17inch SS rims & tires etc but that not on the car yet.

I'm not going to count the $4600 to put the car back together after my wife totaled it back in Dec of 01 either.
