I don't really know what you're looking for, as the 82 pace cars only came with one trim set. That would of course have been the pace car trim. Either it is a pace car, or it isn't.

Its VIN is xx1FP87 (probably 1G1F...) then 3 VIN digits are left out which are the engine, the year (should be a C for 82), and the check digit; L means it was assembled at the Van Nuys CA plant (the other plant was N, which was Norwood OH); the last 6 digits on that line ar ethe car's production sequence (serial) number. Color 16 upper, Color 16 lower; W is for water-based paint (CA started having very strict environemental emissions issues, and it became very difficult to use solvent-based paint or adhesive out there right about then, so they switched to the water-base latex paint, which is notorious for not holding up well at all). I'm not sure what the rest of it is.

No; about the only thing you can tell is the engine, from the 8th digit. It would be "H" if it had the LG4 4-barrel.

The 1FP87 is not part of the VIN. It designates the Fischer Body style. In this case, it's a Chevrolet (1) Camaro Base Level (FP), 2 door Coupe (87) . 1FP67 is a Convertible.

26G is for Trim Cloth Navy. It's the interior color. Not specific to the Pace Car.

Re: how to decifer the trim plate codes?

The car has black interior and 4 wheel disc brakes. I didnt think black interior was an option with charcoal? Also what does the 18N and the D B S mean ? It is charcoal with T tops
Thanks

Re: how to decifer the trim plate codes?

On 82 Firebirds, the exterior color was called Dark Claret metallic. It is a grey color - should be the same on the Camaro.
The 18N should be the interior code, which is charcoal. The N is the trim - like for cloth or vinyl. Not sure what it means.

Re: how to decifer the trim plate codes?

18N= charcoal vinyl with the custom interior option, the D B S on the bottom of the tag are option codes used by the Van Nuys plant, D=rear spoiler, B=special luggage trim package, (carpet on the rear hatch side trim) S=stereo radio provisions The other numbers 080417 = the first two digits 08= the day of the month the body was started in the build process .with your build date of 08B this equates to August 08 1982 the following numbers 0417 is the body's sequence number for that day of production

Here is another if someone could help.

This Camaro is titled as a 1986? I believe its a Sport Coupe, however behind the front license plate bracket "Berlintta (sp)" is stamped into the plastic, could have been changed due to damage.

Thanks

Sport Coupes and Berlinettas shared the same license plate bracket. The front bracket on my '87 Sport Coupe said Berlinetta, even though Berlinettas were discontinued after the '86 model year.
