Headlight pocket - Can't remove headlight

Hi, I wanted to know if the headlight pocket on IROCs were level, mine seems to be sort of angled off, instead of being at a 90 degree angle with the head light, it is more like 95 to 100 degrees.

It looks like the part where the pocket hits the headlight is elevated a few centimeters more than it should be. Is that normal?

I'm asking because I cant reach the bottom 2 screws to remove the headlight retainer thing, or could it be that I'm just trying to take it off the wrong way? I wanted to replace the headlights, I only got the top 2 screws off. Is there a right way to do this, am I totally missing something? Thanks.

Have to push down on the plastic, get the screw a turn loose, the headlight retainer should be slotted on the bottom, with top screws out the retaining ring should pull up and out. Still not easy, but it will work.

Alright thanks, I'll try that, I was worried about doing it because I didn't want to risk scratching up the paint, but I'll just push down harder than I was doing before.

I actually thought there would be 2 additional screws as on the top, that I had to totally unscrew, but this is much easier than I thought, nice....

ya unfortunatly I think it was normal. I can't get at most of mine.. which really sucks. it's so hard to avoid scratching the black paint.

i'd recommend getting an extra set of hands to help ya out. if you're just replacing the headlight, you only need to take out the top 2 screws. you can then push the headlight trim down enough to wiggle the light out and put in a new one.

if you need to take the whole thing out, get somebody to push down on the headlight pocket while you remove the screws.

usually, the lower bolts are stuck pretty tight...it takes ALOT of pressure to break them initially. (for mine, i had to turn screwdriver w/ one hand, and push almost as hard as i could on the back of the screwdriver with the other). but yeah, it takes alot of force to push the headlight pocket down enough to take out the screw w/o scraping the pocket, and if you need 2 hands on the screwdriver, you need another persons hands to push the pocket down

Put a piece of masking tape on it.

I always put a soft shop rag under my screwdriver to avoid scratching the paint.
