True 1LE?

Is there any way to find out if a 91 Z28 with VIN 1G1FP2382ML166147 is a 1LE? Interested in purchasing but want to be sure the car is as the seller says a 1LE car.

Thanks

Nothing in the Vin number will tell you what options came on a car. No such thing as 1LE car Model, it was just the RPO 1LE that made it different.

Check the RPO sheet inside the console glove box to see if the 1LE option code is there. You can call your local GM dealer and ask the parts dept for the option code breakdown if you give them the VIN. They should fax it to you if you are nice and they are decent

Good luck trying to get RPO lists from us Dealers on 3rd gen cars.
It will be a waste of time and effort . You need to check the car out in person and check for the 1LE options. Do a little research
on this subject. First item to check for is the big 12" front disc brakes and if this option is not there forget about the car for the rest is BS.

Its like the seller always claiming its a 350 car when in fact its is a 305. Buyer beware.

Wow that surprises me. I have done RPO checks here a few times with no problems . The local dealer happilly faxed them over to me. DJP you are correct though if the big brakes aren't there forget it.

Just noticed your Canadian location, it may be different there. US dealers have had their computer systems purged of old data.

Thats a drag but all is not lost. You can call the local dealer here for the cost of a long distance call and I am sure they will tell you if the 1LE RPO is there. (905)886-2047 Royfoss parts direct line. Explian the situation and i am sure they would be glad to help.

P.S. If you get a woman on the line she is new and knows nothing about cars so ask for Angelo. Good luck

1987 RPOs may not be listable by the dealer. A 1991 should be though.

The option lists (RPO codes) go back to 1990.
This car looks like it is too early in the run to receive the big brakes.

Then its not a car with 1LE RPO which includes the 12" front brake
rotors and dual piston calipers.

Kind of true, apparently there was a way around this where you could delete all options, get the G92, and wham you got 1LE. then you start tacking options back on, Apparently there is a 1LE Formula running around with every options and T-tops etc... So a plain jane car may not hold all the answers, you have to check the RPO's to be sure.

BTW... 1LE Brakes can be added on for about 1000...

You're right DJP, I was thinking of the B4C cars. The big brakes showed up towards the end of the '91 production run on these cars.

Heres what I found out on 1G1FP2382ML166147.
This is a true 1LE car. It's got the C41 heater, no power accessories, G92 performance gear axle, JG1 aluminum driveshaft, J65 four wheel disc brakes, KC4 engine oil cooler, L98 TPI 350, MD8 700R4 auto trans, N64 aluminum spacesaver spare, 1AZ customer ordered car, 1LE performance components, 73B red base interior, 81P wheel color, red, and 81U primary color exterior bt. red. Car was built 11-1-90 and delivered to Hubbard Auto Center in Monticello, IN. Delivery date on this car wasn't until
9-30-93 with 125 miles on it.
