I found a Rare thirdgen
Before you start flaming on me about how unrare every model is, im actually wanting to know some information about this car. I will try to get some pics today. The car, its a 1984 Z28, nothing massively cool about it other than the fact that its a speedster. Literally only has 2 seats and tonneau from front to back. Its a professionally done Job, the Tonneau cover looks awesome. Im not a big fan of the 84 body styling (slits in the front ground effects just aren't doing it, nor that carb'd 305). At any rate its for sale, this guy is asking like 8,500 for it, and im not looking to buy it at all, I just wondered about it. Im sure it was a dealer mod. This guy claimed there were only about 1005 made in 84. Anyone have any idea if there is any truth to any of this, was there an 84 camaro speedster ?
(will post pics and vin once I go back this weekend)

They show up all the time. They weren't available from GM, but some aftermarket conversion company.

It was an aftermarket company similar to ASC, that converted early 80's Camaro's and Firebird's into two seat roadster's. I however, do not know what the name of the company was. But they are not GM factory cars.
There couldn't have been a whole lot of them made. But that being said you do see a fair amount of them for sale on Ebay.
You may want to try searching the subject, it's come up many times on this board.

Probably a whole lot of time and fabrication skills or money. I wouldn't be surprised if the company that did the conversions isn't around anymore, and if they were I doubt they'd still have the tooling.

Those things look really nice... but the windwshield looks like it could use like a 3- 5 inch chop or so, just for the sake of asthetics. I think if I had one of thse, I would actually do that. Its a "rare thirdgen" and one i'd not likely use for drag racing.... Can anyone photoshop that ?

Here is a lowered version of the windshield.. I did make one even lower than this.. but it didn't look right. the car body looked to big in comparison.

WOW! Do the windshield chop on a red Trans Am with that conversion and it would look just as bitchin' as a Ferrari!

It wouldn't be that hard to convert it. I saw the whole kit on EBAY a coulpe of weeks ago, went really cheap too. Something like $300 bucks I think.

It'd actually be pretty hard to convert a car into an AutoForm convertible...When I've been working on mine, I've found there is a LOT of extra metal and such added under the car, and around the added panel behind the seats. I've been pretty impressed by 'em...Trying to create a registry of the autoform conversions...Since no-one seems to know to much about them...

I have seen alot of these cars as well... They must have sold well but I'd imagine conversion-related replacement parts would be hard to get these days!!

Seems like whenever there is one of those on ebay the owner thinks it's some 1/100 made model or something!
They are damn cool, and it puts them into the acually "sports car" category. I always hated how they weren't officially sports car, because of the 4 seater thing.
