Just put in new door handles

I just slaped on my new outer door handles and man did it make a difference! My old ones had the broken spring problems and rattled. The new ones dont make a sound and look so much better. I recomend this for anyone with shot door handles!!

That would be me. Where did you get the handles and what was the labor like? Guessing junkyard and about 2 hours respectively.

Curious,

I bought them brand new off of ebay for 25 bucks shipped. Look for the user name 1aautomotive on ebay. Once I pulled the door panel off, I had them in in about 15 mins a side. There is just two speed nuts to take off and then the rod to snap in. It was alot easier than i thought!!!

You can get them new from any Delco dealer. I think HELP makes replacements as well. Took me about an hour on the driver's side door.

Did you (do you) also have door sag? I have a little of that going on. I saw a tool to fix it on one of the site advertised above.

Yeah, you got to watch out for those cheap "made in china" aftermarket door handles some places sell. I put a pair on my uncle's '91 Z28 and they got all loose and started rattling after about 2-years.

Get the real GM ones from the dealer or Delco parts place if you can. The last time I checked they ran about $42 each high retail at the dealer.

that would be the cause of the sag so the fix is as you posted door pin kit, and you need a gm door spring tool if your doing lowers and uppers.

If you wanted to do it yourself, the following site has all you need to do it:

Top Down Solutions Door Sag Repair

I need to do this but I do not think I'll be getting all these tools to do it. Prolly best to find someone who has the tool and can change me.

Im just on door repair this month..... After my new handles i decided to redo my door panels which is going pretty good so far. I also just replaced my outer door sweep. Im really try to get these doors to stop rattling so much.....
I noticed that all the lock rods are loose and make alot of noise. I bought some of that aqurium hose at home depot (.08 perfoot!) and slid it over the lock rods. (all the rods that had funky bends i had to slit the hose) While i dosent fix the fact that the rods are loose, it has cut back on the noise. Those rods with out the "aqurium hose dampner" seem to magnify any sound that is created by the loose ends rattling (kinda like wind chimes) lol...
Any ideas on how to fix the loose ends??

Yer way ahead of me. My doors sound like the Ghost of Christmas Past (lots of rattling) and there is some significant sag in the door. No matter (at this time). We took the car to the beach at Santa Cruz yesterday and it drove like a champ. I love cruising at 1700 RPM at 75 MPH.
