According to your description it could be very RARE. I would stop driving that car right now and put it in storage. Its like money in the bank and could be your retirement nest egg in forty years. Store it now.

That's sarchastic, right? Except for TTA's, 1LE's, etc. there really are no rare 3rd gens. All of them can be found with a little searching.

Now with all those RPO's, that sounds like a really nice car, so don't get me wrong, but just tell him to enjoy it!

Why did it take so long before someone relized it was a "SARCASTIC REMARK". Because there is NO RARE 3rd Gen car.
That includes the ones you quoted, because some fools part with inflated prices for them.

again its only rare if other people think so, you could have a car worth 1 million dollars but if you can't sell it for more then 20 bucks its only worth 20 bucks

Yes, only four made. I wonder why??? GM made that number so they could be a RARE car, YEA. For your info 1LE was just a option code for a stripped down car for racing. The Buying Public was not interested and GM adjusted production on cars that did not sell. That about sums it up for all the other "So Called Rare" 3rd gen cars.

give it a little while, the cars are only 10-15 years old, in another 10-15 years they will be worth a pretty penny.

Maybe, I thought I was going to worth a pretty penny in 10-15 years and it never happened.

You would be worth a pretty penny if you were as cool as these cars are. Better luck next time - thanks for playin'.

No, its because nobody ordered them. GM woulda made 10,000,000 of the 1LE cars if that many people wanted them, or even knew about them. But GM kept the 1LE its little secret so it could go racing and be within racing rules (ie. the car is offered to the general public). I know I'm gonna get flamed for saying this, but its really no different than what they did with the COPO cars back in the 1960s. They were available to just about anyone that wanted one, but GM just didn't tell anybody about, except those who wanted to race them.

You seem to be confusing the term "rare" with "desirable".

Your description about something being worth 20 bucks has nothing to do with whether it's rare or not. It has to do with whether it's desirable or not.

However, 88 1LE cars are very rare. Consider that there were 69 ZL-1 camaros in 1969, and only 4 1LE cars in 88. That makes them very rare by anybody's standards. In the very rare cases where I've seen an 88 come up for sale, I've seen them command very high prices. Also, considering what the other year 1LEs are selling for when they come up, I would also call them "desirable".
