What should I try to get for this Recaro TA?
Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what being a Recaro Edition will do to the price of my TA? Its an '84 model. The motor is in bad shape and the original paint has been painted over. The interior shows the amount of wear you would expect for an '84 model. The body is in good shape aside from a small dent on the driver's side door. As far as I know it still has all of the original parts. I'm going to sell it soon and I'm wondering what would be a good asking price. Thanks in advance.

Need pics, mileage etc.
"The interior shows the amount of wear you would expect for an '84 model."
This is where pics would help. The entire premise of the Recaro T/A is the interior with the seats being the focal point.
The body stripes on the 84 Recaro are unique and for that reason nobody makes a duplicate of this exclusive trim.
KBB.com has a new cutoff date for the year 1985 (20 year history) and even an 85 T/A in poor condition wont even fetch a price.
Sorry not much help here but I hate to see a post get buried with no replies at all
Post pics and a little more history, its a rare car for sure

I havent taken many pics of the car but I uploaded one of the pics of the driver's seat. The passenger side seat isnt quite as bad as it but it still show a lot of wear. The rear seats are in really good shape compared to the front ones.
The odometer I think read some odd miles over 66,000. I ran a carfax report on it that said it was the correct milage but my guess is it has rolled over 100,000 at least once but its never been reported.
The original paint is gone. The entire car has been repainted solid white. One of the owners before me is the one that painted it. Even the wheels have been painted white.
The motor is complete aside from the carbeurator is missing but I was told it didnt run. Its just been sitting since I got it around a year ago. The guy I bought it from said the transmission worked fine but the motor was dead. I dont know how much I'd trust him for mechanical advice but he said it sounded like the fly wheel might have broke.
It has a little body damage. There is a dent in the driver's side door which shouldnt be too hard to repair. There is also a square hole cut out in the middle of the nose piece. I have yet to figure out why it was made. The only other body damage is the bird in the middle of the tail light is busted.
I'm not sure of everything that was Recaro only but most of the parts I know of are still on it. Its only got 1 of the 2 door handle inserts but it still has the original wheels and the seats. I also have heard that the dash is special in a Recaro Edition. If so it is still in good shape.
The only other problems I know of that its had is it has no ignition. The guy I bought the car from bought it at an auction without keys. He drilled the ignition to start the car with a screw driver. I think that is also why the bird on the tail lights was busted out.
Stock Mechanics:
Motor: 305 HO
Tranny: 700R4
Rear End: 3.73 Disc Brake Posi
If you need to know anything else just let me know.
Note: I uploaded the image but dont see it anywhere on Preview Reply. Did I do it wrong?

I'm going to have to do this one at a time because I dont see a way to upload multiple pics. Here is an image of the front of the car. The wheels arent on it in the pic but I do have them. I had to put them on a different vehicle to move it.

This is the last pic that I have. It shows the damage I was talking about to the driver's side door. I dont know how any of the damage happened. It was like it when I bought it.

Not to be a party pooper, but looking at the pix I would only give about $500 for the car. And no I am not interested. Recaro or not there is too much work to do to the car to make it "Valuable"
In short from the information I have, and if I were interested, everything would have to be redone, here are some figures that I feel would be fair to repair what you have
$1200 To have the seats done, new carpet, headliner, etc.
$1000 to have engine rebuilt
$1000 to have tranny rebuilt, It may not NEED it, but I would have it done anyway.
$3000-4000 For paint the original color etc.
So with that in mind and the car only being worth about 5000 in MINT condition at this point in time I could not bear to spend more.
Just my opinion.

It looks like you also have the original sail bird. The bird in the middle of the tail light is golden and it's pretty hard to find that one. You're also missing the ground effect in front. I don't think there's anything special about the recaro dash. All L69 engines had different tachometer. And some recaros had pads for resting your leg on the drivers side . I'm not sure if every recaro had those...
