Is this a rare map holder?
I was just wondering because this is the original one that came with my s/e but I took it out for a black one and now this one just sits in my garage and dont know what to do with it.

82-83 map pockets didn't have the firebird symbol on them. That style map pocket was used until the middle 80's.
I wouldn't say is rare. Its a common item found in Firebirds. Being that most interest is around Trans Ams which used black map pockets, I doubt its going to fetch that much money. PerryPam just had a ton of those listed on Ebay and most expired without bids.

I've seen them fairly often in the bone yard. As a matter of fact, I'm using one in my Camaro (mounted on the door panel).

I am using one of those on my 87 Formula I got off of my 83 Parts T/A... It is acutally useful rather than that POS pocket that came with the car. I keep my Insurance and registration in there...

On my 'Bird I have a tan one that flips up to open, but on the Formula It's a black one that is like only a half pocket.. its open on the left side of it and is only about 6 or 7 inches wide... kinda useless... did a previous owner screw with it?

nope thats the one that I got rid of...
In 1987 anyways:
The standard interior got the sideways pocket that was useless.
The "CUSTOM" interior got a pocket, and there was also the front sideways useless pocket...
The DELUXE got the same as the Custom Pocket.
