What's up with this? AC-Delco PF25 oil filter discontinued???

Hey!
What gives?
GM discontinued the PF25 oil filter? I can't find them anywhere but ebay, where they are going for high $$$!
Gee, with all the Chevy engines using them, why?
Funny thing, the PF24 is still avalible! Only used on Pontiac engines of the 350/400/455 engine size! Only last Pontiac engine this size was 1979!
I do know that even in '92, the Chevy engines used these PF25 filters! And even then, all the thirdgen Birds with the Chevy engine used them!
The new replacement is the PF454, which is much smaller! Is this a problem? Will points be marked down at the big shows? You know, like the TA Nats?? Sorry, but I don't know of any Chevy camaro shows.

I just don't get it,

George

Delco still makes equivalent filters that will fit in place of the PF25. It doesn't make sense for them to manufacture a dozen different interchangeable filters. If you do a search, this topic came up a couple of years ago or so.

If you want something larger than a PF454, try a PF1218

Just my point!
The PF25 has been around forever!
Nothing the same size filter for the Camaros/Firebirds!
One too small, one too big!
as for a few years ago, it was not to long ago that I found this out!
Sorry if I offended you!

Why would I be offended? All I'm saying is that if you search, all the alternatives were discussed at length. That discussion might turn up something useful for you.

Well, I still don't see a reason about the question I asked.
Why?
And, like I asked, why keep the PF24 for an engine that has been gone for quite awhile.

Maybe the PF24 is the only filter in their line that will fit those engines, and there are more than enough cars still on the road that take them. There are a number of filters with the same thread and gasket size as the PF25, which makes them interchangeable, so why would they need to continue making them all?

Well, I work at a GM dealer here. The PF25 changed to the PF454, and the PF35 changed to the PF 1218. All thats different is the numbers...the filters are the exact same. I always run the bigger 1218's on my SBC's.

I didn't feel to great about using a filter half the size of the original one myself!
The AC-Delco site shows the PF454 as the filter to use, but they still show the PF25 oil filter as a truck filter, but nothing when you order it! So, I guess that they haven't even updated their website yet either!
And of coarse, the auto parts places are no help either! They just lead you to the Fram filters!
The car dealer here still has some PF25s, but not for $12.95 each!!

They pop-up on eBay periodcially for $25.00+ each. I guess it is all in how bad you want things to be correct. I know that at a couple of shows that I attended last Summer, since the demise of the PF25, the judges were checking to see if you had one installed...

I know the pf35 is now the 1218 but I thought they also changed the internals on it.

PF1218 has the drainback valve on it, I believe.

Yep. That is the TTA filter. It was very hard to find until the trucks started using them. The TTA filter is mounted sideways so it needed a filter with an anti drainback.

If you want to look exact factory original, paint it black, as they were on the new car. Anyone?

I think the PF35L has been discontinued. I just found out last week the AC Delco ultraguard oil filter line has been discontinued also. These filters were black with a black sticker and gold lettering on them.

I believe the PF35L, part number 25013454, is still available after all. This is the oil filter to have IMO. I wish more stores carried it.

And for what it's worth, the sandwich adapter for my oil cooler takes a PF24, so I'm glad they're still available.

Just found new AC-Delco PF25 and PF35 on Amazon sold by AC-Direct. They are brand new, but are painted like the old ones. In white
